Ferrari chased him hardest, with Sir Lewis Hamilton finishing P2 in the Sprint and then qualifying P3, behind his team-mate, Charles Leclerc, in qualifying. George Russell will start P4 on Sunday in the other Mercedes, ahead of Isack Hadjar’s Red Bull, Lando Norris, who finished P3 in the Sprint for McLaren-Mercedes, and a disgruntled Max Verstappen, whose Red Bull seemed to be suffering from both engine and handling maladies. This season is so disappointing. Its everyone vs their battery instead of everyone seeing who is the fastest racer. Driving on the limit literally isnt a thing this season. The only thing that keeps me watching this year is the joy I get watching 19 year old kimi steal George's dreams🤣

Because no one is reviewing and having a dicussion about the in-house(?) batteries used that's why we're all left in the dark about battery recovery/deplopyment duration/efficient harvesting. Maybe invite an expert to talk about this issue.
Was thinking how bad Qatar is going to be after seeing Silverstone… then I remembered it may potentially cancel and be held at Silverstone… So no matter what we are going to see another dreadful 2026 engine display.
Battery cars are such a bore. Does anybody watch Formula E? You might as well get excited about a torchlight.
This is not why I watched F1 for so long this season has been terrible. The inconsistency is just bizarre and completely unnecessary.
The words battery management and harvesting have absolutely no place in F1 and the fact that the teams went along with this insanity defies belief, someone is obviously attempting to destroy F1 as we know it .

The simple fact of the matter is that even though these regulations(largely the aero side and not the engine side) deliver much closer/exciting racing, the amount of handholding required to make the engines work makes them largely a failure in my view. So much is taken out of the cockpit and determined by algorithm or software in terms of actually driving the car, which is terribly disappointing.

I hate these new regs
Qualifying isn’t as hard to watch now that there isn’t so much super clipping. The yo-yo racing at the start of the race is decent, as drivers figure out where best to use their energy. But when the leading car is made a sitting duck simply because they ran out of battery, that’s not proper racing. Just a gust of headwind is enough to significantly affect the battery’s SOC level for the car ahead.
These regs could have been great, cars are now lighter and able to follow closely. But they’re being held back by a massive flaw in the PU department. Just bring back the pre-2026 hybrid V6!

It's not racing , a better battery management wins.
Kimi just romped. With a few laps left in the Sprint, he led Lewis by about 1.3 seconds; Lewis had already run fastest lap.
BUT by the final lap, the little Italian had stretched his lead to 2 seconds, and THEN he went faster, pulling out more (unnecessary) tenths and setting fastest lap of the race.
It might have looked close, but it wasn't.
Excuses for "insert your favored driver name". The big picture is that cream rises to the top no matter what regulations. The usual suspects are all there, and Stroll still brings up the rear, nothing is wrong really. A world class driver can adapt, and the one who adapt the best is the best driver, as he is the more complete driver.

I look forward to this race so much it's really one of the best races in F1 at the circuit and to see it like this with these regulations was so sad even though I do like the drivers that are doing well it's exciting watching Kimmy and Lewis but I hate seeing the cars do that
Maybe the windgust is my best guess as far as the small difference between teammates
I’m confused too Peter. I don’t even understand whether the deployment strategy is preset by the teams and manipulated from the pit lane or whether the drivers are making deployment decisions as the lap and racing circumstances unfold. It’s all so un-Formula 1. Anyone….?

The fact that you can’t defend is an absolute joke. I remember when Schumacher had to defend Hakkinen for 10 plus laps and I was on the endge of my seat hoping he could keep defending. Now, it’s just inevitable and not skill or tense moments in defence.
