When you are chipping around the green you need to be able to chip from all sorts of lies. If you only have one chipping technique you will find it impossible chip consistently onto the green.
In this golf video Danny Maude will show you:
1. The basic chipping technique that works from good lies
2. The small changes you need to make to chip from hard pan lies where there is no grass under the ball
3. How to chip from the rough
4. How to chip from uphill and downhill lies.
This golf lesson will also introduce to a brand new technique used by many tour players including Tiger Woods and Rory Mcilroy.

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can beā¦to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I donāt know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isnāt as flexible as it once was or youāve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are Iāve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw upā¦a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
Iāve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the gameā¦LETS GO TO WORK!

This golf lesson provides a couple of wonderful drills to help you hit your driver straight. If you are a beginner golfer and are looking for some golf driver tips that are simple and easy to do then you are going to love this.
I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver
and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing
This shot is usually my third stroke on a par four.
Terimahkasih from indonesia š„š„š„š„
Your video coaching ROCKS!..Thanks!
What wedge are you using
Hallelujah
Bryson DeChambeau has a short video showing that short sided deep rough shots can be made the same as a bunker shot.
Stop the subtile please
You are easily one of, if not the best golf teacher on YouTube. You make things incredibly easy to understand and see and you do a great job of helping find solutions. If thereās an award for golf content creator you 100% have my vote.
great lesson.cant wait for spring…golf balls all over the man cave!
Im a left handed player and my dominant hand is my right which means I dont get that touch around the greens that right handed players enjoy..Its a pain.
At 9:10 I use a 7 iron with a putting stroke on those tight lies with lots of green. This way I can use a shorter backswing with no wrist hinge
Simple et clair comme dāhabitude. Merci š
Your instructions are great but I could still kick it closer barefoot and blind-folded than anything a lofted wedge can do.
Danny, im having trouble finding the right height for my driver! Im better at a straighter shot, but the loft is high, low or in between. I know it is part of my upswing, just disappointing to not be consistent. I appreciate your lessons! Going today! Improved greatly on my chipping (L swing). Thanks for all you do!
Thank you Danny for these tips, was in knots with so many fixes, playing off low handicap and was a wobbly mess over chips, I was close to buying a jigger! Thanks again and if there is someway to buy you a coffee/contribute, please let us know, this is such valuable info.
Danny not related to this video but the one you done hammering the tee into the ground my ball striking is unreal now canāt thank you enough. Gentleman
Hi i love you , I play golf every day
hej pÅece kdyz uz jsem kousek od grenu tak to tam nejak dotlacĆm ne? Hey⦠almost everyone thinks that at the beginning š
Goes to win the club championship. Is it just me or are we realizing how important chipping is.
Could somebody please tell me NOT what to avoid when chipping but actually HOW to chip around the green? Ball position, grip, shaft lean, body rotation, arms rotation, wrist hinge, takeaway, backswing, downswing, impact position and follow through. All videos tell what to avoid, not how to actually chip.
Thanks!
These tips have really improved my chipping in the space of one practice session!
Hi Danny I watched your video on chipping around the green and practiced in my backyard. You were exactly right, I improved my game by three strokes so far. Now Iām working on my putting. Cheers!
This technique doesn't work for me… with the high angle of the club I just don't see how this will work. the best and most consistent way to chip is wrist forward and use the angle of the club to hit down on the ball.
Danny – great video. This has helped me around the greens a lot, especially that tip about making the swing flow. Can you provide us some tips about smaller swings from good lies. Sometimes I have a chip that is to a locati0on where I've left myself short-sided and when I shorten that chipping swing, I have contact problems. I'm sure I'm not alone.
You know what they say: Drive for show, putt for dough.
Just once I would like to see a video about chipping off mud with a bit of irregular, short grass, or hard pan with short bits of barely alive grass
Sorry, when I miss a green, I'm using the Paul Runyan Rule of 12 around the green literally all the time.
I Definitely find keeping the body momentum /turning through is key..often when i misshit its due to some other difficulties with in a (particular ) chip/pitch iam concentrating on and forget to keep that momentum in my turn throughā¦half way through lesson ,hope you go into the rough . That was my kryptonite last week ,id chip decent to very well off the short stuff but the rough was so thick at this course it seemed and felt i couldnt judge anything correctly ..id go long and the ball would react as i imagined ,or id land perfectly on my spot but ball would roll way out past hole on one then The next id land perfectly and itād stop deadā¦then the flub and or skull shot here and thereā¦thick rough sucks haha
Thanks to your videos… I've regained my ability to chip and pitch my shots. I appreciate how you keep it simple by breaking things down to 2 or 3 steps. Thank you!
I have been one of the worst chippers of the golf ball who ever played the game. This video and others you produced changed that. Buddies I havenāt seen in over a year were puzzled. They asked what happened. I told them a good friend of mine finally cracked through my thick skull. Whoās your friend? I told them Danny Maude.
Pretty new to the channel and every problem I've been having in my game has had 1-3 videos on the channel that are easy to understand, follow, and have instantly changed my game for the better. Can't thank you enough! The other day I started hitting my 3 wood incredibly and it was all due to the post drill videos. Today, I'm watching this and can't wait to get out there to practice.
I was topping them because I was making contact too close to the ball. I fixed it be brushing the grass behind the ball just a little bit. Let the club bounce off the ground.
Also, using the body to swing helped a lot, which he is demonstrating.
excellent pointers this
This is legit great. Thanks Danny
Thanks Danny. These lessons are very helpful. Have you done one similar to this one but with longer pitch shots like 20-30 yards in conditions like the ones in this video? I really struggle with hitting those from thick rough. Thanks.
Your golf instruction has been excellent, and youāve become my favorite golf swing teacher on YouTube. Iāve watched many golf channels, but the way you explain things is simple, easy to understand, and actually helps me improve my swing. Iāve learned a lot from your videos and look forward to watching more. Thank you for taking the time to help golfers like me get better and enjoy the game even more!thanks John
Good video. Isnāt the vertical shaft pitch called the Runyon technique?
In your last shot you didn't address if the club face is open or squared. Looks like it's a little open but can you address that please. And do you hit down on it more?
Enjoyed a couple of your videos. Thank you.
