COLUMBUS, Ga. — University of Texas Men’s Golf senior Christiaan Maas has been named to the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel Postseason Watch List, the Haskins Foundation through its media partners Golfweek, Golf Channel and The Back of the Range announced Wednesday morning. Maas is one of 15 players named to the watch list for the annual award which honors the top men’s collegiate golfer.
The 10 finalists for the 2025-26 season will be announced on Friday, May 22. In addition, Haskins Honors will once again be held at Grand Blanc Maison (adjacent to the 1st green at Omni La Costa) on Wednesday, May 27 for the 10 finalists and their coach. This special evening will be hosted by the Haskins Foundation, The Back of the Range, College World Golf Championships Foundation, and three-time Haskins Award winner and former University of Texas star Ben Crenshaw.
Maas, a three-time All-American at Texas, is No. 4 in the latest World Amateur Golf Ranking (April 29) and No. 2 in the latest PGA TOUR University Class of 2026 rankings (April 29). He is a three-time SEC Golfer of the Week selection this year (Oct. 1, Oct. 15 and March 4) and one of 10 semifinalists for the Ben Hogan Award.
Maas has played in 11 of UT’s first 12 events this season and sports a team-best 69.52 stroke average through 33 rounds while recording one victory and a total of seven top-eight individual finishes. Twenty-four (24) of his 33 rounds this year have been par or better, including 16 rounds in the 60s. Maas claimed individual medalist honors by two strokes against an elite field at the Southern Highlands Collegiate (March 1-3) with a 10-under 206 (70-68-68). He earned low amateur honors and tied for 10th at the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic (Jan. 22-25) with a 72-hole score of 6-under 282 (70-71-69-72). Maas also won the individual title by 10 strokes and paired with teammate Daniel Bennett to pace Team South Africa to the team crown at the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships (Oct. 8-11) in Singapore.
Celebrating its 56th year, the Fred Haskins Award presented by Stifel has been given to players who have captured 33 major championships and more than 400 professional tournament titles around the world. The Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SID’s and select golf media.
