In a massive switch in the balance of power, McLaren-Mercedes trounced their opposition in the Miami Sprint race. Lando Norris won easily from the pole, setting fastest lap along the way, with Oscar Piastri a back-up P2 ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and the factory Mercedes of George Russell. Kimi Antonelli finished P4 on the road but was penalised five seconds for four track limit infringements. That elevated Red Bull-RBPT Ford’s Max Verstappen to P5 and Sir Lewis Hamilton to P6 in the other Ferrari. Peter in this video looks back at the key moments of the 19-lap race.

First!
Watching Alex Zanardi spinning in his grave is more entertaining than the Miami Sprint with the new 2026 v.2 rules – give me back my OG 2026 'artificial' racing! Why is he spinning? You tell me!
2nd!
Thanks for this Peter. I hope F1 honour Zanardi well tomorrow. I was fortunate enough to watch him win Paralympic handcycling gold at the 2012 Paralympics.
Artificial racing wasn't that bad after all.
It's getting boring, your negative commentary! It has always been about driver skill and technology. We are in an emissions crisis, motor sport is starting to face up to this. Just starting to face up to this -obviiously given the sponsorship of fossil fuel companies, it is the slowest transition. Drivers are coping, dealing with the new technologies, as they have always done. Still expecting motor sport journalists to catch up.
VER having to give back the place to HAM and avoid penalty seems insufficient as HAM lost over 2 seconds to RUS who he was under 1sec behind?

Another P6 for Max.
Peter here talking as if no F1 driver has ever let a faster car through without a fight. Seriously, the car behind could have better tires, less fuel, more power, less clutch wear, less aero damage etc etc forever. There's a million reasons a driver would decide not to fight the guy trying to pass, it happens every single race. Just because there's now a battery-related reason for the same decision, Peter seems to forget this is completely normal.
This "green racing" bullshit is about to lose me. π’
I hope all the critics of this season are happy. Back to tedious βracingβ due to dirty air.
Peter is heartbroken π that Max has lost it.
Lando β€
Max is back.
It wasnt great, but it WAS a bit better to look at compared to the other races we have seen so far.
F2 race was 1000 times better this weekend!
The sprint was so boring I fell asleep
F1 ~ Fake 1
Couldnβt wait for this!!!!! Iβm sure the regulations are fixed now since max is up front πππππ
I've quit watching F1, but still enjoy your analysis AND I don't waste time watching a quasi SLOW E race.
