Sturgeon Bay’s boys golf team placed first in its first Packerland Conference match of the season on Monday at Northbrook in Luxemburg.
The Clippers topped the standings with a team score of 189, edging out Sevastopol by two strokes.
Sturgeon Bay was led by Ashton Benzinger, who carded a 44 for nine holes, followed by Aiden Benzinger and Caleb Nielsen, who each had rounds of 45.
“It was a true team effort and a great way to kick off the season on a high note,” said Clippers head coach Michael Bryfczynski.
Sturgeon Bay’s junior varsity team finished second in the meet with a team score of 212. The JV squad was led by Ben Ash with a 50, followed by Sam Hanson, who posted a 53.
The Clippers will be back in action April 27 with two matches at Little River in Peshtigo and Vernon Hills in Oconto.
