THE SHORT STORY: UC Davis sits in eighth place following two rounds of play at the R.E. Lamkin Invitational at the San Diego Country Club on Monday. The Aggies opened the day strong with a 2-under 286 in the first of two rounds, followed up by a 4-over 292 to hold their own in a highly competitive 16-team field that features four nationally ranked programs ahead of them. Shaun Nair and Lequan Wang pace the Aggies, both sitting in a tie for 18th place at 1-under par for the tournament, while Nair provided the team’s low round of the afternoon with a 68 (-4), highlighted by an eagle on the 14th hole, a 485-yard par 5 during his morning round.
FIRST TEE
Shaun Nair opened the tournament with a stellar 68 (-4) in the morning before carding a 75 (+3) in the second round, bringing his two-round total to 143 (-1). He currently sits in a tie for 18th.
Lequan Wang joined Nair in a tie for 18th, bouncing back from an opening 74 (+2) to card the second best score of the day for UC Davis, shooting a 69 (-3) to reach 1-under par (143).
Curtis Da Silva remained steady, following an opening 71 (-1) with a 74 (+2) in the second round to sit in a tie for 33rd at 1-over par (145).
Ryan Firpo sits in a tie for 46th at 3-over par (147) after posting consistent rounds of 73 (+1) and 74 (+2).
Zhenxian Zhang carded rounds of 75 (+3) and 76 (+4) to sit in a tie for 70th (151), while Treed Huang, competing as an individual, mirrored that total to also tie for 70th after shooting 77-74.
