SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – After playing two rounds in one day, the Washington women’s golf team capped off a strong start to the Juli Inkster Invitational with a fourth-place finish out of 14 teams. The Huskies trail California, Santa Clara, and San Jose State heading into the final round.

Mads Smith had a standout opening round with three birdies to post a score of 69. Smith followed with a three-over-par second round to wrap the day at even par with a score of 144.

Wendy Tang and Amber Li followed Smith on the Husky lineup, both tied for 18th with three-over on the leaderboard. Tang started the day with one-over in round one before carding a two-over in round two. Li tallied two-over in the first round, followed by one-over in the afternoon with a total score of 147 for them both.

Carmen Lim carded two birdies and two bogeys in round one to even par, then shot five-over in round two for a total of 149, tied for 29th going into the final day.

Athena Ni carded a 75 in the opening round and followed with an 81 in the second round, bringing her two-round total to 156 and placing her tied for 63rd overall.

The Huskies will return to TPC Harding Park for the final 18 holes on Tuesday, starting at 8:50 a.m.
