Clinically insane.
Taylor Swift fans are once again upset and accusing her fiancé Travis Kelce of being “MAGA” – this time, because he committed the unforgivable sin of…talking to President Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump.
Of course as the significant other of the world’s biggest pop star, everything Kelce does is going to come under increased scrutiny by her absolutely unhinged fanbase. While Swifties overall seem to love Kelce and the way he treats Swift (like they really know anything about the couple’s relationship…), there’s always a sizable group of the fanbase ready to pounce on anything the Kansas City Chiefs tight end says or does that they don’t agree with.
The latest example? Talking to Kai Trump.
The conversation between the two happened yesterday afternoon during a TGL golf event in Florida, with video showing the 18-year-old Trump smiling as they chatted.
A complete non-story, right? Two celebrities talking during an event. The kind of thing that normal people wouldn’t think twice about.
Well Swifties are not normal people.
While some are defending Kelce as just being nice and…you know, a normal person, others are outraged and calling for Swift to leave him because they’re convinced that he’s secretly a Trump supporter:

But if you thought the overreactions on Twitter were bad, let’s take a look at the comments on Reddit:
“Never beating the MAGA allegations, lmfao.”
“Well, look at that. Travis really is as stupid as he looks”
“How Taylor doesn’t get the ick from this sentient meatwad baffles me”
“Well, that would explain why Taylor Swift isn’t speaking out about ICE using her music and a slew of other things. She’s gone MAGA cuz her fiance is MAGA.”
Insanity.
For some added context, Kelce was reportedly at the event to interview Tiger Woods, who happens to be dating Vanessa Trump. Vanessa is the ex-wife of Donald Trump Jr. and the mother of Kai.
To their credit, some Swifties pointed out the obvious: What was he supposed to do, knock her out of the way and not talk to her? For all the criticism, Kelce seems like a nice dude, so it wouldn’t exactly be surprising to see him get along with somebody whose politics he doesn’t agree with. (Although we don’t really know his politics, many assume that he leans left).
And as others pointed out, Travis isn’t exactly…well, the brightest crayon in the box, so there’s always the possibility that he had no idea she was the president’s granddaughter in the first place.
Either way, it’s not the first time Swifties have been outraged at Kai Trump: A few months ago, Kai launched her own clothing line that featured a logo that Swift’s fans thought was a little too close to the logo for Kelce’s “Tru Kolors” apparel line.
And they were also mad at Swift for associating with retired NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan last year, after the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast hosts interviewed President Trump during the 2024 campaign.
It never ends with these people.
