The city of Aspen Parks and Recreation Department is launching a comprehensive facilities master plan for the Aspen Golf Club campus and is inviting the community to help shape its future by participating in a public survey open through March 31 at aspencommunityvoice.com.

The master plan will primarily focus on improving and modernizing facilities that support golf, tennis and Nordic programs, according to a press release. The golf course itself will not be changing.

“This is an exciting opportunity to reimagine how this campus serves our community,” Aspen Golf General Manager Jim Pratt said in the release. “We want to hear directly from users, staff, families and residents about what’s working, what isn’t and what should be prioritized as we invest in the future.”

After almost three decades of use, the plan aims to evaluate the Aspen Golf Club campus’ buildings, operations, staff workspaces, programming opportunities and sustainability improvements, the release confirms.

“The facilities are ready for thoughtful reinvestment and long-term planning to ensure they continue to meet our growing community needs for the next 50 years,” the release states.

Project goals will include “increasing operational efficiency across the campus, providing a higher level of service and expanding programming, reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency, providing adequate workspaces and storage for golf, junior golf, Nordic and tennis staff and leaseholders (and) designing a sustainable master plan.”

The online survey was crafted to gather feedback about community experiences, expectations and priorities. Questions are centered around identifying “improvements that matter most to the diverse users of the facility,” according to the release.

Community members who have not recently been by the campus are invited to walk in and around the facilities, visit the restaurant and share impressions through the survey after.

Following the survey period, the city will host a community town hall 4-6 p.m. April 22 at the Aspen Golf clubhouse to share initial findings and continue the conversation.

“We’re building this plan with the community, not just for the community,” Pratt said in the release. “Every perspective helps shape the long-term vision for this campus.”
