The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course has named Michael Hainline as its new head golf professional.

Hainline, who is a member of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA), started on Feb. 17 and is ready to work with golfers and new players while expanding programs that serve residents of all ages and skill levels. He most recently served as lead PGA assistant at Briar Ridge Country Club in Indiana. He is a Quad Cities native and is looking forward to returning to the area.

“Mike brings not only extensive experience but a genuine passion for community golf,” said Richard Klimes, Parks and Recreation Director for the City of Muscatine. “He is excited to connect with our regular players while also welcoming newcomers who may be picking up a club for the first time.”

“I believe golf courses should be gathering places for the whole community,” Hainline said. “My goal is to create a welcoming environment where families, juniors, seniors, and beginners all feel comfortable and excited to play.”

Hainline began working in the golf world at a young age, in bag rooms and on maintenance crews while in high school. He competed in college, including at Western Illinois University, before building a decades-long career that included coaching, course management, instruction and leadership at public and private facilities. His focus as head golf professional will be on expanding youth programming, clinics, leagues and special events that make the municipal course a hub for recreation, wellness and social connection.

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is open to the public, offering affordable play, lessons and community events throughout the season. Email Hainline at mhainline@muscatineiowa.gov or call the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course Pro Shop at 563-263-4735.
