Tiger Woods revealed an exciting update regarding his status for the upcoming Masters tournament, scheduled for April 9-12 in Augusta, Ga.
Woods appeared on CBS’s broadcast of the Genesis Invitational on Saturday, and when asked by analyst Trevor Immelman if there was “any possibility” of him playing in the Masters, Woods replied, “There is.”
Woods has been rehabbing since sustaining a torn Achilles tendon last March, leading into The Players Championship, which he missed due to his injury. During his recovery from Achilles surgery, he also had disc replacement surgery on his lumbar spine in October, which extended the timeline for his return.

In the days before the Genesis Invitational, Woods provided insight into where he sits in his quest to return in mid-April.
“Well, I’m trying,” he said. “It’s challenging, and now I’ve entered a new decade, so that number is starting to sink in.”
Woods turned 50 years old on Dec. 30, which makes him eligible for the PGA Tour of Champions.
Play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz then asked whether, if he were to play in the Masters, he would need a tune-up beforehand, to which Woods replied, “I don’t know.”

“Whether it’s regular tour, senior tour or member-guest, I don’t know,” he added with a laugh.
While he has yet to nail down the target for his return, it appears now that the 2026 Masters is a real possibility. Woods last played in a golf tournament at the 2024 PNC Championship, when he and his son, Charlie, finished second. He later played in a TGL match on Mar. 4, 2025.
Woods has won the Masters five times throughout his illustrious career and is a 15-time major champion. His last tournament win was the 2019 Masters.
