MOBILE, Ala. – Abilene Christian men’s golf closed under par through the first two rounds at the Hal Williams Collegiate at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at Magnolia Grove on Monday. Jack Hollingsed leads the Wildcats in a tie for 14th place on the individual leaderboard at 3-under 137.

ACU rose two spots in the second round to 10th place at 2-under 558 entering Tuesday’s third and final round. Teams will get going with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

The Wildcats are two strokes back of tournament host South Alabama in ninth place and within six strokes of Louisiana Tech and Southern Miss, each tied for fourth place. ACU ranks third in the field on par-5 holes at 7-under and tied for third on par 3s at 1-over.

Hollingsed finished under par in both rounds, carding a 2-under 68 to start the day and capping it with a 1-under 69. He’s matched with Grégoire Hoyeau for the team lead in birdies with nine while tying for 11th in the field.

The Dallas native tied for ninth on par 3s at 1-under and drew for 10th on par 5s at 2-under. He shot at or below par on the final 15 holes of the first round with five birdies throughout. Hollingsed added four birdies in the second round.

Thomas Buisson, who recorded a top-25 performance in each of his five tournaments in the fall, was the second Wildcat under par at 2-under 138. He tied for 21st place after carding a 1-under 69 in each round. Buisson tallied five bogeys in the first round, then minimized his mistakes with just one bogey in the second round. The Bordeaux, France product tied for fourth in the field on par 3s at 2-under.

Hoyeau followed in a tie for 38th place at 1-over 141, shooting an even-par 70 and four birdies in the opening round before a 1-over 71 with five birdies in the second. He scored at or below par on each of his final 10 holes in the second round behind a pair of birdies. Hoyeau joined Hollingsed in tying for ninth on par 3s at 1-under.

Niklas Blalock, competing in his first event of the season and just his second team event for ACU, drew for 49th place at 2-over 142. After scoring 3-over 73 in the first round, he bounced back to shoot 1-under 69 with four birdies in the second go-around. Blalock was one of the best in the field in the long game, tying for second on par 5s at 3-under.

Preston Cooper rounded out the Wildcats’ lineup in a tie for 70th at 7-over 147. He was one of four golfers in the mix to record an eagle, doing so on No. 6 in the second round.
