LIHU’E, Hawaii – The Saint Mary’s men’s golf team finished tied for seventh in a competitive 19-team field at the 2026 John Burns Intercollegiate, which was played at the Ocean Course at Hokuala in Kaua’i from Thursday through Saturday.

It’s the Gaels’ first top-10 finish in six seasons at the annual event hosted by Hawai’i and featured seven ranked teams in this year’s tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Avery Lazarski finished the three-round event at 3-under, which was good for a tie for 7th place individually out of 111 golfers.  With a final round 68 (-2), Lazarski improved seven spots over the course of the final 18 holes.

To round out the Saturday scoring for the Gaels, Inigo Izuzquiza shot a 72 (+2) in the final round with Aidan Lee and Sam Baumuller at 3-over and 4-over, respectively.

Just three teams recorded rounds of even par or better on the final day, including fellow West Coast Conference member LMU, who earned the team title at 10-under-par with the Gaels as the second-best finishing WCC school in the event.
