“When you hit up on the golf ball, there isn’t as much pressure being put into the golf ball.” I think this gets the physics wrong. To make that assumption we would need to know dynamic loft at impact. The more a player hits down on the ball, the more shaft lean they USUALLY have but I have seen it all over the place. I have a player that is -1 with a 7 iron but leans the shaft 8-9 degrees. He is putting a lot of “pressure into the golf ball.” The real reason we see spin increase with the more negative angle of attack is the spin loft is increasing assuming a similar dynamic loft presented at impact. We need that number to know the actually physics at play.
If Jordan could get though his frustratingly thick skull, that playing a mallet is not only statistically better, but scientifically better, he might get off the struggle bus!!! He’s been hitting it really well, but his putting has been terrible!god-awful
