Lakeridge Golf Course new boutique hotel plan goes to council Jan. 28
Reno planning manager Mike Railey discusses the Lakeridge Golf Course’s new boutique hotel proposal that goes to council on Jan. 28.
The Reno City Council will hold a first reading Wednesday, Jan. 28 on a request tied to construction of a boutique hotel resort on the north side of Lakeridge Golf Course.
Duncan Golf Management wants to transform open space on the north side of Lakeridge Golf Course into a resort-style hub for guests. The golf course would be preserved and continue operating as usual, according to Andy Durling, vice president of planning at Wood Rodgers, the engineering firm representing the project.
“We believe adding a small boutique hotel, new dining options and modern recreational amenities will help sustain the golf course and enhance the experience for both members and the community,” TJ Duncan, president of Duncan Golf Management, said during the planning commission meeting in November.
The Reno Planning Commission voted in November to recommend approval of the project’s required zoning change, despite the majority of residents expressing opposition during the meeting.
Primary concerns raised by residents included traffic, loss of open space, neighborhood compatibility and noise.
Residents who want to share their opinions on the proposed Lakeridge Golf Course expansion can submit public comment using the city’s online form or attend the Jan. 28 City Council meeting at City Hall. Public comment will be limited to three minutes per speaker, and the hearing is scheduled to begin at or after 2 p.m.
If approved in this reading, a second council reading will be required for the zoning change to be adopted.
If it’s adopted into city code, Reno’s planning manager Mike Railey said the project will then have to go to the Truckee Meadows Regional Planning Commission and the Regional Governing Board before the project can start construction.
What will the project include?
