Scottie Scheffler talks after winning the 2026 American Express

Scottie Scheffler won the 2026 American Express in his season debut. It’s his 20th career PGA Tour win.

The big story around the 2026 Farmers Insurance Open is the return of Brooks Koepka to the PGA Tour. The former LIV Golf defector makes his return to the Tour on the cliffs of Torrey Pines.

The West Palm Beach native and Florida State alum has nine PGA Tour wins with five of those coming in majors. Koepka left for LIV in 2022, giving fans of traditional golf events only four chances a year to see him play. He won the 2023 PGA Championship but has struggled since. Will a return to the Tour revitalize him?

There’s a lot more than just Koepka this weekend, of course. Reigning Farmers Open winner Harris English is among the 15 players in the World Golf Rankings top-30 in the field. That includes three in the top-10: Xander Schauffele, Justin Rose and defending U.S. Open champ J.J. Spaun. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler gets the week off after winning The American Express, his first Tour event of 2026.

Ludvig Åberg: “His victory at the Genesis Invitational last year at Torrey was no fluke. He also tied for ninth in 2024 in his first start at the golf course. He shot 67-68 in the first two rounds of the American Express before withdrawing due to an illness but he should be hydrated and ready to go this week.” – Garry Smits, Florida Times-Union

One of the most famous courses in America stars this weekend when the PGA Tour comes to Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California, about 15 miles north of San Diego. The tournament will play on both the North and South courses over the first two rounds before the finale puts everyone on the renowned South Course, which hosted the U.S. Open in 2008 and 2021. Both courses play at par-72; the South Course is 7,765 yards, more than 300 yards longer than the North.

Who won the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open?

Harris English put up a great third round and rode that to a one-stroke win over a charging Samuel Stevens to win last year’s Farmers Insurance Open. His 8-under finish gave English his lone win of 2025, though he did finish second at two majors (PGA Championship and The Open Championship). Andrew Novak came in third at 6 under while Sungjae Im and Kris Ventura tied for fourth.
