Though many of the Trump family members attended the College Football Playoff national championship game in Miami, Florida, on Monday, the 19-year-old son of the 47th president of the U.S., Donald Trump, and first lady Melania Trump, was not at the game.
Notably present was 18-year-old niece Kai Trump, who has committed to play for the University of Miami since August 2024. Kai Trump sat in the VIP box at the Miami Hurricanes-Indiana Hoosiers game with her famous grandfather.
Her uncle Barron Trump was back home in Florida for the 2025 holiday season, though: The sophomore at NYU made a rare appearance at Thanksgiving dinner and New Year’s Eve, both at his father’s private club, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.
Both sightings were his first “public” appearances in almost a year. Now that the holidays are over, where will he be?

Barron Trump, son of Donald Trump, started his second year at New York University after beginning college at NYU’s Stern School of Business in 2024.
For a very public family, the first son tends to keep a very low profile. But when he does venture out into the public, Barron Trump typically goes viral.
When Barron Trump started college at NYU Stern School of Business just after Labor Day 2024, he made international headlines when he was spotted on campus flanked by Secret Service. He’s likely the most famous (current) student at NYU.”How tall is Barron Trump?” inundated Google and other search engines when he stood out in the crowd (literally) during his father’s second inauguration in January 2025. His spring 2025 classes at NYU started soon after.For fall 2025, Barron Trump reportedly did not return to New York for his sophomore year of college as expected. People magazine and the New York Post reported he was taking classes at NYU’s Washington, D.C., campus and residing in the White House.
Interestingly, spring 2026 term of NYU begins Jan. 20, one year after Barron Trump went viral at his father’s inauguration as the 47th president of the United States.

Barron Trump is currently in his second year at New York University, though he reportedly was not in New York state for fall 2025 classes.
Since his famous father was elected for a second term a year ago, Donald Trump has shared many special “presidential” moments with his family and inner circle — and most, if not all, have been attended by members of the Trump family.
But some haven’t. In particular, Barron Trump, the most private family member of this very public family has not made many public appearances at all, including his father’s 79th birthday celebration in Washington, D.C., though most of his siblings and his mother Melania Trump did.
In addition, several of Barron Trump’s nieces and nephews have generated headlines of their own — from the youngest (Alexander Trump Boulos, son of Tiffany Trump and Michael Boulos) to the oldest (Kai Trump, daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and Vanessa Trump). Kai Trump, who’s younger than her uncle Barron Trump by a year, has been notably building her social media brand.
When was the last public appearance of the entire Trump family?
Since President Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day on Jan. 20, 2025, which also was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, life for the commander-in-chief has been busy. During his first year back in the White House, Donald Trump visited his home state of Florida 18 times and his private club and primary residence, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, 16 times. According to Palm Beach Post reporting, Barron Trump did not accompany his father on board Air Force One to Mar-a-Lago or Florida since Inauguration Day. Melania Trump accompanied the president on board Air Force One to Mar-a-Lago only once in 2025 after Jan. 20 − for the Thanksgiving holiday. However, other celebrities, Trump family members (Viktor Knavs, Melania Trump’s father) and well-known public figures like Elon Musk and son Little X Musk have.
In addition to his presidential duties, traveling and legislation, Donald Trump has made time for significant events in sports including Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, Louisiana; the Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida; the NCAA wrestling championship finals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; the 2025 LIV Golf Tournament at his golf club in Florida, UFC fights in Miami, Florida, and the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey.
Members of the Trump family have attended these events, but the entire Trump family clan has not been publicly seen together since the week of the 2025 Inauguration Day festivities. That includes all five Trump children, Donald’s Trump’s grandchildren, Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-wife Vanessa Trump, Donald Trump’s second ex-wife Marla Maples, Donald Trump Jr.’s fiancee Bettina Anderson, Melania Trump and her father, Viktor Knavs.

According to New York University’s academic calendar, spring 2026 classes start Tuesday, Jan. 20, a day after the federal holiday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and one year after Barron Trump’s parents, Donald and Melania Trump, became the 47th president and first lady of the U.S.
It was not known as of Jan. 20 whether Barron Trump will be at Trump Tower in Manhattan, New York, or the White House in Washington, D.C., for NYU’s spring term.
