MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) – The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office reports a couple is facing charges after a golf cart was stolen from a church on Friday.
Deputies said an employee from the church reported that a Yamaha golf cart was removed from the campus. Video footage showed two people walking through the church campus parking lot, entering a restricted area and taking the cart.
Detectives investigated and recovered the stolen golf cart at a nearby residence, according to deputies.

Dillan Powell, 28, and Meaghan Powell, 36, are both facing charges of felony larceny and felony first degree trespassing. Dillan is also facing a charge of felony attempting to obtain property under false pretense.
The couple was denied bond as they were already out on pretrial release, deputies said.
