Picture this: you’re shoveling the snow from your driveway and thinking you’d much rather be on a golf course. So you finish up, grab your clubs, and play Augusta National.

Thanks to False Front Golf Simulators, it’s a realistic and welcome scenario.

“Just about any golf course you’ve watched the pros play – any of the famous ones – are all on here,” says Jordan Loewen, owner of the new Indoor Golf simulator that’s now available for public use in Steinbach. “You can play more than 1,900 golf courses from the warmth of our cozy indoor lounge.”

And the best part? You can bring your family and friends.

“We have two simulators right now that comfortably allow eight people to golf at the same time.  You can choose to keep individual scores, or if you want, you can do alternate shot or a Texas Scramble team game,” Loewen explains. “We also have room for a gathering of 35-40 people to sit and gather for Christmas staff or family events.”

False Front has already booked a number of corporate Christmas events. That said, the facility also welcomes solo bookings and is playable 24/7, 365 days a year.

“If you’re working the evening or night shift and you aren’t ready for sleep just yet, you can come and hit some balls in the middle of the night,” says Loewen.

Initially, Loewen thought it would be great to build one simulator for family and friends to pass the winter months, and not be dedicated to loading up the family to drive to hockey arenas around Manitoba.

The idea continued to grow until Loewen decided that multiple simulators in a public-facing building would be a better fit for the community. He’s already planning to bring a third simulator into the business for the new year.

Given its family-oriented beginning, False Front will continue to accommodate families going forward.

“We’re very open to having families join us,” says Loewen, who says he believes that golf should be for everyone. “We’re also hoping to provide an after-school, extra-curricular option for kids and families that maybe don’t commit to season-long sports. They could come once a week or once a month.”

Food options and a liquor license are still in the works, so for now, Loewen says that players are welcome to bring in their own food and non-alcoholic beverages. They can also order in from their favourite restaurants.

Players are also advised to bring their own golf clubs. Once they’re set up and ready to tee off, they’ll enjoy a state-of-the-art virtual experience that takes them to Pebble Beach, Pinehurst, or any other course they’d like to play.

“The launch monitor we use is extremely accurate,” Loewen explains. “It uses three high-speed cameras to detect how you’ve struck the ball, its spin, and how you’ve compressed it, and it will visually show you with instant feedback where your ball goes. Whether you’re playing our driving range or on one of 1,900 courses from around the world, how you strike the ball is what happens on the screen.”

Bookings can be made on the False Front website, and social media users can follow updates on Instagram. The facility is located at 140 PTH 52 West, just behind Loewen Body Shop.

“You can book on our website at www.falsefront.ca, and it’ll take you to a booking page,” says Loewen. “Once you’ve confirmed your tee time, you’ll receive an access code that unlocks the front door when it’s your tee time.”

Whether one person, a foursome or larger gathering, and on Muirfield, Shinnecock Hills or the Old Course at St. Andrews, False Front Golf Simulators can make golfing dreams come true at any time of year, at any time of day. But maybe shovel that driveway first.
