MEMBERS of the Fiji Golf Club took to the tee for the last time this year in their season closing members day competition yesterday.
A total of 108 golfers were present at the golf course, taking part in a four-man Ambrose event which began on Friday.
A four-man Ambrose is a golf competition format where four players hit from the tee, select their best shot and play their next shots from that spot until the ball is holed which becomes a single team score.
Handicaps will then be calculated by addng individual handicaps and dividing by eight (for a quartet) to find the net score.
Registration began at 9am, with a shot-gun start an hour later.
The competition’s major sponsor was major food manufacturer Goodman Fielder, with supporting sponsors being the Bank of the South Pacific (BSP), insurance provider BSP Life, Canform Industries, Rups Investments, Bayside Investments, A. Hussain & Co., Propmate, Mali Pest Control, Rosy Hearts, Khanz Holdings, Pandanus Group, Stiff Shafts Group and Carpenters Motors.
A variation of overcast weather and light showers did not dampen the spirits of the 108 golfers strutting their golf sticks.
Notable public figures such as the Indonesian Ambassador to Fiji, Dupito Simamora, and former Miss Fiji and Miss South Pacific winner Alisi Rabukawaqa were also participants.
