We Built Our Dream Garage Golf Simulator!!!

Behind these doors, we have built the Absolute Bandit’s dream golf simulator. >> But before we show you inside, we’re going to show you how we did it. When me and my wife bought our house in May 2021, we knew exactly what we were getting into. The roof leaked, water came through the ceiling during heavy rain. It was a full renovation job. But even then, I already had one goal in mind. I wanted a garage big enough to eventually build a golf simulator. Then real life hit. We had our first kid later that year, and the idea that we could run a renovation at the same time was optimistic. Early 2023 is when things finally moved. Planning approved, renovation green lit, and we decided to include the garage, knowing full well it was the part that we’d cut if budget got too tight. But for me, it mattered. Golf is part of my job. With absolute bandits, I’ve got to try and find time to practice, and it was getting harder and harder. Then the build actually started. Foundations dug and poured, block walls going up, and the key detail, the pitch roof, went on to give enough height to swing a golf club inside. The garage doors were fitted, and suddenly the structure existed. By Christmas 2024, the renovation was finished, and we could finally move in just in time for the holidays. And the garage, it stood there as an empty shell and absolutely no funds left to take it any further. But that’s where today’s sponsor steps in and gets us over the line. Big thanks to Sportscreen for sponsoring the build and providing us with one of the most cuttingedge enclosures that money can buy. I will leave a link to them down in the description if you want to go check them out. And for those of you in the UK who want to get one, I will link Golf Base, which is their UK distributor, who also helped out with the build. So, thanks to them. Let’s get back inside and go get on with the simulator build. First things first, we needed a floor. Here’s a concrete truck just pouring concrete as a base so that we can get started. Once that cured, it was time to get on with the painting. All right. Well, it’s half midnight. I’m covered in paint. I’ve been painting for hours. My body aches. Big shout out to anyone that paints for a living. You’re a real one because that is hard graft. I won’t lie. Anyway, uh progress report. This wall majority painted, door frame painted, and this wall painted. The frame around the garage door half painted. So, we still got above the doors down the side, this whole wall. Getting back up there to finish that. Then, we’ve got the rafters and the steel beam to paint. I’ve probably spent about 8 hours painting today. I think it’s probably going to require another 8 to 12 hours to get it all done. Look at that bang up job. Wow. Here we go. The garage is a complete mess. There is stuff everywhere. But progress is being made. So far, we’ve managed to install all of the turf on the ground, including the hitting mat. And uh we are now well underway with putting together the enclosure. So, you can see we’ve got uh basically brackets on the walls and then head roll tubes that kind of like grip on to the fabric, which will come down. And uh then you’ll have your enclosure. And then the final step is to somehow mount a uh a projector onto this rather large steel beam that’s up there. So things are coming together. I’m hoping to have it done in the next 24 hours. One of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do is wire an Ethernet cable. If you haven’t got experience of this, just get an electrician to do it because it was really tough. I bought a kit myself to do it and it’s one of the most fiddly jobs I think I’ve ever done. But it does work, which means we have internet in here. And that means that we are going to be able to run the internet, the software that goes with it, and also our launch monitor all at the same time. Got to say, very proud of how it’s looking so far. I’m excited for the launch party at the end of this. So, now you’ve seen what we did to get here. Let’s get behind the doors and show you what’s inside. Here we are. Just two seconds ago, we’re out on the main road. Now we’re at the 10th at the Belelfree from crying out loud in our sport screen enclosure. You can, of course, check them out down below. This is fully retractable, by the way. Up and down. Check them out down below. Link in description. However, more about that later. First, and he’s talked to you about the BenQ projector that we’ve got that set up right there. Next to it, the laptop. Okay. need that to make the golf sim work. We got our launch monitor down there. Absolutely fantastic. Pan over here. You know, the clubs just aren’t quite working for you. Want to switch it up. You want to go from long game to short game, they’re hung up on the wall. And the best part about this room is this bad boy, the Bush beer refrigeration unit. We’ve got everything we need for a party. So, let’s go set that up right now, shall we? >> Welcome, Dan. >> Yeah, buddy. >> This looks sick, mate. >> Yeah. >> Amazing. What a transformation. >> I know, right? Remember what it was like before? >> I’m in love. >> Well, he wants to look. >> Hello, mate. >> Hello. >> Welcome to the party. >> Oh, how you doing? >> It’s a bit cold, isn’t it? >> It’s a little bit cold. >> Little bit chilly. How are we? >> Yeah, good. What do you think? >> It’s not bad, is it? >> Have you worked out how the system works yet? >> No. Like >> Chris is my like mechanical brain. like literally is >> I really want to know how it all works actually. That’s basically why I’m here cuz I don’t like golf. >> Jesus. Sorry. >> I got smashed. >> That’s got to go first. >> Oh, that did that. Is that what cut is? >> Oh, here it is. Wow, look at that. That’s got to go more than >> currently. >> Oh jeez. >> That that sounded much. >> Well, it’s very straight and very high. >> That’s much better. >> Tom would have loved that one. >> Oh, that doesn’t count. >> It’s good. >> I was definitely up like this, wasn’t I? >> Yeah. That’s a good one. >> So, nice. >> Go on. >> Go. >> It’s not going on. I can tell, mate. It’s too spinning. >> Stop. It’s not enough. >> What? >> That’s not bad. >> We’re going to just just one foot in the bunker. >> Oh no, we’re in the trees. This is good. >> That this is bad news. >> Perfect. >> Great shot. Too much. It’s in the water. >> Oh, but it felt really nice. So, >> shot be happy with that. >> Oh, hit the pin, >> mate. That’s Don’t hit the pin. >> This enclosure from Sports Cream is absolutely epic. Now, every simulator build has some form of constraints. And one of my biggest constraints when building this was that the door on the garage was going to be right in the shanking area. What I don’t want is my kids coming in, opening the door, I’m hitting a ball, it’s come off the huzzle, and it’s gone straight into them. That’s I mean, obviously the last thing we want. Now, when SportsCreen contacted us, they have a variety of different products and this one is absolutely perfect to alleviate that problem. Also, my wife said you can’t just have it as a simulator all the time. It’s got to be a multi-functional area. So, this being retractable allows us to use this space for other things as well as just a golf simulator. So, the best thing about the entire enclosure is the retractability. So, watch this. With the click of a button, the powered motor in the stream will retract the entire thing up onto a roller and it’s gone. That’s why the product is called the Vanish because it does effectively just disappear into the brackets at the top. And as you can see, here’s the door that we were talking about earlier. That problem that we had in the build has been completely solved with this. Alternately, if you don’t want to get the motors, you can actually get crank handles to do everything manually. So, look, we can actually retract the entire hitting screen up into the top. Right? So, this is it fully retracted. You can see why it’s called the vanish now. Um it’s perfect because now I can use the space for whatever I need to. Um my daughters can come dance in here if they want, which they have done before. Or maybe if you’ve got a car and it’s in your garage, you can now get your car in and then you can obviously take it out when you want to use it again. And that’s why it’s the most practical enclosure on the market. Less than 5 minutes to put it up, less than 5 minutes to take it down. It really is a super piece of kit. If you want to go check them out, the link is down in the description. And thank you so much to Sportscreen for sponsoring this video. Hopefully it means that next year we’re going to be a lot better at golf. What do you think? Hopeley. >> Doubt it. >> We’ll get practicing. We’ll see you in the new season. Thank you very much for watching. Smash a thumbs up if you have enjoyed and we’ll see you in the next one. Face.
