Hello everyone. Been checking out lost of builds and I am in the middle of remodeling my garage and I am thinking of making a golf sim. I am pretty handy and love DIY
My garage is vaulted so I have lots of space. Garage is 17 x 19. I was thinking on the back of garage. Or on front of garage door. I already have PC no LM. Eventually if I do like it I want I want to make a pull system to store it ticking away. I am pretty handy and like DIzy. Whatever would make it cheaper.
Would be nice to be able to put away. I also use my garage as workshop. Any tips?

I did something similar in my old townhouse. I picked up a retractable sports screen from the link below. Since you already have a side mounted garage door opener, it would work well for you too. Got an impact screen with Velcro on one side to stick to the sports screen roller. I then put in hospital curtain railings off of each side of the screen and hung heavy duty curtains to protect the walls from any errant shots. It’s worked pretty well and kept my garage in pretty good condition.
The sports screen and the curtains allowed for everything to be retracted, so that I could still use the garage to park my car. The only thing that I had to remember was to pull the curtains back when opening the garage door.

The other option is something like this –

It looks a lot different now because this is unfinished. But I went the cheap route, three mesh tarps from harbor freight. I put rope through the corners and ends going through hooks on the ceiling. I just pull on the string and it go right up to the ceiling. I will add more pics in a bit. Also list what I used.
One thing I would think about is the damage caused by errant balls. Do you want them to hit the garage door and leave dents that will be visible from outside or would you prefer dents in the drywall that you can easily patch? My preference would be to hit away from the garage door.
How high is the ceiling? 9ft I think you have enough room to be able to pull of a retractable setup once you clean up the space.
The front / back really is dependent on what you feel like. Do you use the back or the front of the garage more? If you use the back of the garage more, then maybe it makes sense to do a retractable setup in the front so this way you can still have access to your tools in the back.
Since you’re handy, I think you know that planning it out will be important. So do some research onto screen sizes, placements of projectors, and the type of setup you want (retractable, enclosure, etc). That’ll help you find the best locations that’ll work for what you want
