Stupidest take ever. Completely out of touch from reality. I want my face clean so the ball goes straight. This guy really thinks he said something profound here…

  2. crankybollix

Spoken like a man who gets his equipment for free.

  3. myehtotdsxmlc

Mine is 23 years old and because I’ve used the cover it’s still usable. Would not be usable otherwise

  4. LastManBrandon

Eh, idk about this one. I just am proud of my putter, so I want to keep it looking nice within reason for a while.

  5. Ok_Mulberry_3763

Spoken like a man that doesn’t pay for his equipment.

What an asinine take. This is the entitled nd out of touch with reality space he has now entered.

  6. nbanbury

Lol idiotic nonsense. The putter cover stops mine from smacking against the shafts on my woods and damaging them

  7. Chippie92

I use a putter cover to protect my other clubs (especially the graphite shafts) from my putter, not just to protect the putter

  8. quantim0

Dings and dents on the top line or body of the putter are distracting to me when I’m lined up over a putt.

I have multiple putters over 15 years old that are still in great condition because I always use a cover.

  9. uncleking1971

My current putter is a Cleveland Frontline I bought used. My previous putter was an Inazone from Diamond Tour Golf. I’m not getting squat in resale for my putters.

  10. Mr_Perfect20

I’ve been on my current putter for 8 years, and it looks brand new. I’ll stick with the head cover.

  11. My reasons for not using club covers or taking off my glove when putting are the same. Laziness.

Life’s too short to be fucking around with “hats for bats.”

  12. Conversely, I put a head cover on my putter because I do want it to last forever.

  13. Hmm I dunno I just like mine to stay looking nice

  14. MetalHead_Literally

I just like my putter cover, it’s funny

  15. Average_Joe5859

Talk shit about iron covers and no one cares, talk shit about putter covers and everyone loses their minds.

  16. DrunkenGolfer

Having head covers on irons and putters is like buying a cover for your hammer so it doesn’t get scratched.

  17. neddybemis

I’ve never had a head over on any club. Just too annoying and likely to get lost. I only play with like 9 clubs so nothing is hitting anything else

    Driver
    Hybrid
    4i
    6i
    7i
    8i
    9i
    54
    Putter

  18. I have had my putter for 16 years , I like to keep my stuff in good condition for me not resale and I certainly don’t get the luxury of knowing I can get a free top of the line new one (or one remade to the exact spec of my old) if I damage it by slamming my wedge back in the bag.

If my putter was banged up like Tigers it would visually distract me over the ball.

  19. likethevegetable

My bag does a good job separating the putter from the rest, so no cover for me. I only have a cover on the driver which can bang between the 3w and 5w

  20. PopularTask2020

I can afford to replace clubs maybe once a decade. Yeah I’m gonna protect them. I remember the video of that pro who used iron covers cause he came from poverty and said he came having to fully respect his equipment and taking care of it.

  21. BidetBlaster

I bought a new putter this year and lost the cover during my first round so I played all season without one. It now looks like it did 2 tours of Afghanistan

  22. I wonder if Padraig is planning to sell his woods? They all seem to be covered in his bag.

  23. AdmirableGear6991

Bag chatter is the reason to use a cover on the putter.

  24. HomeboyPeter

My boss grew up playing with Padraig, and got at best, 2nd in everything competition because he wasn’t a future PGA champion. But I totally understand why he’s such an ass in a terrible mood every day, if he grew up playing with this guy

  25. flaginorout

I carry an old ping putter with a cast head.

That putter isn’t IN danger…..it IS the danger.

I take the headcover off before my round and don’t put it back on until the round is over.

I’m also not the type who cares if my putter gets beauty marks. In fact, I like some character.

  26. FFSBoise

I’m w him. I’ve played the same putter for 30 years without a cover.

  27. Ok_Tax_9386

I put a headcover on my putter specifically because I want it to last my lifetime. I can’t afford another putter lol.

  28. MisterGoldenSun

I think my putter cover is fun and adds a dash of style to my bag.

Plus the damage concerns others have meantioned.

  29. GazelleIll495

Have been using a ping putter for over 20 years without a cover. All is good

  30. I don’t follow his reasoning, but I also don’t have a putter cover, and the clubface is as new after 5 years. It has it’s own compartment in the bag, so no worries about it damaging the other clubs as well.

  31. McNasty1Point0

I use a putter cover precisely because I want it to last many years, not because I’m looking to sell it lol

  32. ToiletPaperSlingshot

Why do his woods have headcovers on then? Is he going to resell them?

  33. I am a big fan of Paudie, he’s not a big equipment guy. He thinks people spend too much brainpower on that stuff and should focus on their game more.

What he is saying here is that if you are taking too much care of your putter it is because you have one eye on selling it and changing to a different club.

You can play a putter for decades, a head cover will only protect it from superficial scratches and chips it won’t impact how it plays. By accepting this is your club and what you need to work on is your game rather than the next shiny putter you’re better off.

that being said… I do put a putter cover on my putter, but it’s actually to protect the shafts of my other clubs. Most golfers would benefit from Paudies attitude and approach and will be just as good with an odesy two ball and a set of Ping G10’s as the latest and greatest carbon fibre drivers and high tech irons and a lab putter.

  34. Infinite_Ground1395

I use one because putters are expensive and I’m not rich. I don’t want to resell my putter, I just want it to last a while.

  35. onemoreape

I take my covers off when I use a club and put them back on at the end of the round if I’m riding. If I’m walking I put the covers on after each shot.

  36. Cuchullain99

I’d prefer not to use a putter cover, but if you have to take your wedge to the green, you can rest it on the cover and you’ll never leave a club behind. (and keeps the grip off the wet grass.)

  37. JeebusChristBalls

This is pretty dumb to be honest. I don’t exactly treat my clubs like princesses, but I can imagine how a dent in the face of my putter would affect my putting. That’s the reason I use a putter cover. Also, one less thing clanking around in my bag.

  38. AshByFeel

I have a rare Scotty that is worth a lot of money. I don’t put the headcover on. It’s my putter and I am never going to replace it or sell it. I also don’t clean my grooves on the course. Ha!

  39. RedshirtBlueshirt97

Never changing my putter. Why would I change something im so familiar with and know how it feels, swings, balance. If my puts are off i know what to correct because i know exactly what my putter is doing every time

  40. Take care of your stuff and it’s amazing how many years it will last. Kind of like changing oil in your car.

  41. GreenAldiers

“I don’t use a garage for my car. People who do that I just assume are trying to sell the car some day. It’s a shame that all these amateur drivers hate driving so much that they use garages to hide their vehicles.”
