The golf world was stunned today as LIIV golf sensation W Neman teetered on the edge of disaster at the Australian PGA Championship. Can the five-time LIIV winner survive the cut after a lackluster performance in Brisbane? While Neman struggles, Australian favorite Mark Lishman is making waves, positioning himself firmly among the contenders at Royal Queensland. But here’s where it gets controversial. Neman’s even par rounds of 71 have left him clinging to hope, relying on the afternoon players to falter and push the cut line down to minus one. And this is the part most people miss. Neman isn’t the only big name stumbling. PGA tourbound Raasmus Negard Petersonen is also floundering at plus 5. Meanwhile, the Australian contingent is thriving. Lman and Cam Davis both sit at minus 7 just three shots behind leader Brett Rankin who’s at minus 10 overall with five holes remaining. Big names like Adam Scott, Minute Wii, and Cam Smith are set to tee off this afternoon adding to the excitement. Speaking of excitement, littleknown Spaniard Roco Repetto Taylor stole the show on Friday morning with one of the most incredible finishes ever seen at Royal Queensland. The 23-year-old birthday boy, fresh off the hotel planet tour, went on a birdie eagle frenzy, playing the last six holes of his first round in 8 under par, finishing at minus 7. His compatriate Sebastian Garcia leads at minus 8 after a bogeree 63. Australian veteran Brett Rankin shares second place with Repetto Taylor at minus 7. Daniel Gale, who won a BMW with a hole-in-one on Thursday, is also in the mix at minus 6. Mark Lishman, Anthony Quail with Tiger Woods former Caddy Steve Williams, and New Zealand’s Ryan Fox are all at minus5. Other notables include Adam Scott, Minwi, Cam Davis, Cam Smith, and Marco Penge. Is Neman’s struggle a sign of LIIV Golf’s limitations or just a bad day for a superstar?
