Scottie Scheffler shoots 6-under 66 | Round 1 | Hero World Challenge | 2025

In the opening round of the 2025 Hero World Challenge, Scottie Scheffler carded a 6-under 66 to sit atop the leaderboard in a five-way tie for first.

The 2025 Hero World Challenge takes center stage this week, bringing together an elite 20-man field. Hosted by Tiger Woods, whose foundation operates the event, the tournament once again brings star power and prestige to the Albany Golf Course in the Bahamas. Leading the charge is Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1, defending champion, and two-time winner of this event. He’ll be joined by a stacked lineup featuring several major champions and top-ranked stars such as J.J. Spaun, Justin Rose, Hideki Matsuyama and Jordan Spieth, plus a host of 2025 Ryder Cup participants including Robert MacIntyre, United States captain Keegan Bradley, Cameron Young and Sam Burns.

How did it not? It’s got to be looking around saying the same thing. So 78 yds back into the wind. He’d love to lead this under the hole and pin high hitting his number. The best in the world and keeping himself right next to the hole. Good shot. Just a little right to left break here. Got to take care of the par fives and then heading into a drivable par4 at the seventh. This is a good start for Scotty Sheffler. could have started it at that tower and let it cut a little bit. This is a very high cut on a pretty good line in terms of the green. Oh man, looks right. What a shot. What a shot. That little chip shot. Maybe a putt even for an eagle. A lot of pace on it when it gets to the hole. Interesting. He chipped the one on the first hole from about the same distance off the green. Excellent putt there. Easy birdie for Sheffller. Tap in to get to four under par. And Scotty is off to another fast start here. See what Scotty can do from off the green at eight. That is so well done. Really difficult to get height. Jordan says his went left. It looks like that one went right, which might suggest that George was a little of a pole. You focus on the birdies, but how about that up and down? Good strike. cutting back just left of it. How good to see he never misses the center of the club face. What a beautiful iron shot there by world number one. Just a great iron shot. Good place to put from just there 12 ft. Yeah, he’s not missing from that distance. That is birdie number five on the card with no bogeies and Scotty Sheffler making his presence felt. Hitting a low draw back into a left to right win. This could be a great shot that gets a good first bounce and I think it did. Did you say a low? How often does you ever see him hit that shot with the driver? A nice touch there. Long range, but it’s an eagle try for Scotty Sheffller at 14. Yeah, before his breakout inside of 10 feet last year where he improved so much. He’s got that set up half in half out on the right side. Pulled it a little bit. Didn’t matter. He’s pretty pretty good around this place. You can see those bunkers up the left side. You got to stay right of those. And look at that. He’s trying to hit a little draw here. Use the wind to help him. Oh, big bounce there. That’s a new driver we talked about. It just doesn’t matter which way he shapes it. Four iron from 231. Trying to hit a power cut. You can’t see because of that big burm that runs out there right where you saw that Marshall come running out there. get it up the hill to the hole. Putt it beautifully today. Only had 22 putts to here. No problem for Scotty. That’s birdie number seven. That’s three in a row. That left to right wind picking up and he has pulled this one. There are some bushes in play and then some. Well, you can catch a break over there. It just kind of depends. Lean contact this right of the flag. Also, initially I couldn’t tell if he slipped or lost it left with the club face, but again, he’s right where it needed to be. Today, this putt has been moving right to left. They’ve been trying to get it to move right at the end and just got a little high, but still good speed from Scotty. Nice break off the tea. Yeah, good starts. Just a given with him, it seems. Last three years has led the PGA Tour. First round scoring average. Well, Scotty takes a very comfortable swing at it, but he’s lost this to the right. This could find the chipping area. So, work to do for the leaders. Gotten away from this. needs to slow down. [Applause] Just hung in there. That just shows you how difficult of a golf shot that is. No, he had gone 41 consecutive holes here at Albany without dropping a shot. About to be a party at six under. Group of five sharing the lead.
