So recently got back into golf after a 15 year break. Had a cheapo starter driver, broke it a week go. Found a great deal on a lightly used new Callaway driver. Was super excited, birthday is tomorrow, have a golf outing all planned. Fed Ex dropped the box off, and it was pretty apparent they had crushed it, the entire end of the box was gone, and it looked like they had jammed the club back in the box and snapped it.
Guess I'm going to learn how to drive every hole with my crappy 3 wood now or play old man golf and just make my way down the fairway with my five iron.

you’ll score better
Super early trip to Dicks for a replacement shaft?
You won’t be able to use that.
4 inch driver bombs!
I hit my 3w just as far as my driver (~200y), so I’d be okay in your shoes.
If you can actually hit a driver well, then that sucks. Though they do sell shafts at PGA Superstore and sell 1-hour epoxy.
Will end up scoring personal bests.
Sir, you can’t park that here.
It’s your birthday. Treat yourself to a new one …
That’s a simple trip to a dicks sporting goods, oh unless you’re doing that to fit it in your checked luggage.

Pro shop will have drivers
Happy early bday. Mine is tomorrow as well and debating if I want to get a new mini driver or not.
Have you called the shipper and had them file a claim for damage? Looks to me like you should have a free driver head and a chance to get a shaft that fits your swing. Doesn’t fix your predicament for tomorrow though.
If you can’t get it reshafted in time try calling the club and see if they have a rental or demo driver you can use for the round.
It is unfortunate with fedex, but honestly go get a rush job new shaft install.
Being off season now, you should be able to get a pretty quick turnaround.
Pro shop might have a few demo clubs
Pro shops have demo clubs sometimes that you can rent for the round for free, just gotta leave your drivers license usually
If there’s a rental set ask to use its driver and tell the story. Or use your buddies.
Roger Dunn will let you buy, test and return up to 90 days. Go try something and maybe you fall in love, maybe you just have it for the weekend.
Bring the head with you and ask the first course you play at to put on a stock shaft. Shouldn’t cost you that much assuming they have one in stock.
They make drivers you can buy
It’s your birthday. Overpay for a driver in the pro shop, hit the first tee and don’t look back.
Step 1: file a claim
Step 2: find someone local to your trip that can reshaft this (people will say Dick’s but really you want to find some retired golf junkie who rents a sketchy shack behind the cart barn and has this exact shaft up in the rafters and he’ll do you up in 15 minutes for like 40 bucks and a beer)
Step 3: PROFIT (Win money off all your boys hitting fucking bombs all day and between that and the claim you will be way up *and* have a free driver)
Use your buddy’s
Left my driver at home one time I played one of my best rounds. Didn’t care about getting distance and noticed sometimes it’s best to hit your 4 iron off a tee. With that being said I still hit my driver any chance I get
Stock Cally shaft. You can grab an equivalent in any pro shop. Plug and play.
Where are you staying at? If it’s at pebble beach they can resolved that issue for you super easy
Good chance you play better without it
Time to test drive the buddies drivers all out.
They have demos at the pro shop I’m sure if that helps.
Or there’s always duct tape. 🦆
Didn’t someone’s wife cheat on them allowing for the purchase of a new driver ?
Op if you’re in New York, pm me. I can do club work for you assuming you can’t find a shop
Old man golf is still hitting your driver as far as you can. It’s just 200 yards now. Because you’re an old man. With brittle ligaments and tendons.
Course probably has. A rental
Get a new shaft and grip.
Heat the hosel, remove the old shaft, clean the socket, mark/roughen the new shaft, insert with ferrule, apply epoxy, and let it cure.
Then.
Install the grip by wrapping a single layer of double-sided tape on the butt end of the shaft, sealing the top, coating the tape and the inside of the grip with mineral spirits, sliding the grip on in one smooth motion, aligning it quickly, wiping excess solvent, and letting it dry.
Total time 30 minutes.
Bought a broken, but brand new with tag/shrink wrap cobra dark speed 3 wood from local auction. Went to PGA superstore with the intention of getting a new shaft. Guy took it from me and grabbed a brand new one from the rack and just swapped it out. I asked him how is that allowed and he told me that as long as tags are on they can warranty it on their end. Reason was “it snapped during practice swing on the sim”. Might be worth a shot.
You can find a new shaft on Marketplace and have it in your possession in an hour.
IF, you’re willing to make that happen.
Dude I just had a cleveland 60 degree wedge show up in the mail with the grip end of the shaft completely flattened. They put the club in a huge box with zero packing whatsoever. There was a big tear in the box around where the grip was and the shaft and grip was flat as a pancake. Returned it and ordered another.
Holiday season logistics is crazy. I work in the industry and Q4 is absolutely insane compared to the rest of the year. Everyone and everything is working in overdrive from the retailers themselves down to the delivery drivers that toss it on your porch. LOTS of carelessness this time of year.
