Author Rick Reilly has issued his latest dig toward Donald Trump by claiming that his apartment in Trump Tower is even more “tacky” than his “gold-splattered office” in the White House.

Donald Trump has wasted no time in stamping his mark on 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue since regaining office earlier this year, having completely transformed the Oval Office into a lavish display of gold accents and ornate furnishings, some of which he claims are “the highest quality 24-carat gold.”

The gold theme has also been continued elsewhere in the West Wing, while the 79-year-old is currently in the midst of building his own ballroom in the White House. This has meant that parts of the iconic building, which has stood for over 120 years, have been demolished in recent weeks.

If there were ever fears that President Trump would make the White House his own, then they have certainly been realized now, although according to Reilly, the recent renovations in Washington, D.C. are just a taste of what the inside of his Trump Tower apartment looks like.

Taking to X, Reilly once again made perfectly clear his thoughts on the former property tycoon by taking aim at the current state of the Oval Office, along with his ‘classless’ New York residence.

“If you think Trump’s gold-splattered office is tacky, you should see his apartment in Trump Tower,” Reilly wrote. “I’ve been there. It looks like Midas hurled. [It’s] true. You can’t buy class.”

Over the years, Trump has never been afraid of showing off his apartment, which overlooks Central Park from the top three floors of Trump Tower (floors 66 to 68) and was decorated to emulate the Palace of Versailles, offering a 24-carat gold visual overload.

With lacquered walls, bronze railings, and gold leaf ceilings in the living room, it is quite a sight to behold, and now it would appear that Trump is trying to bring some of that design into the White House, given the way he has already decked out the Oval Office.

One man who can clearly vouch for that is Reilly, who previously shared a story about the time he visited Trump’s apartment, where he looked through a telescope – reportedly made of solid gold – and Trump claimed to have seen the Twin Towers come down.

“I once looked [through] his telescope in his Trump Tower [apartment] that looked downtown,” Reilly tweeted back in 2019. “He said, ‘I saw the towers come down [through] that telescope.’ I lifted my head up. ‘Oh my god,’ I gasped. ‘Solid gold,’ he said. #Narcissist.”

Reilly’s comments on Trump’s office and his apartment come just days after he compared the president to a “toddler” after he boasted about winning 38 golf club championships.

The sports writer has long doubted Trump’s golfing prowess, having famously written the 2019 book ‘Commander-in-Cheat’ about the President’s alleged antics on the golf course. and once again was quick to mock the politician’s latest claims about his achievements.

“Ha! Trump adds about 10 every time he brings this up. Problem is, he hasn’t actually won any [club championships]. None,” Reilly posted on X last week. “You beat Trump, he throws you out of the club. It’s like when you let your toddler beat you in a foot race. He thinks it’s real.”
