When will Tiger play again? Tiger Woods speaks for the first time since his surgery

Tiger Woods just spoke to the media for the first time in months. Here’s what we learned and what we didn’t. How’s the recovery going and how’s it feel back in the Bahamas? Yeah. Well, it’s not as fast as I’d like it to be. When is Tiger playing again? We don’t know. Ted, I don’t know. You know, I just started to chip and putt. I just started to lift in the gym. I just started this process. He’s considering playing late in the TGL season. He won’t play the PNC. He won’t play the start of the TGL. I’d like to come back to just playing golf again. A lot of the conversation focused on his work with the future competitions committee. He sounds fully engaged in that process. This is fan-based. We’re trying to give the fans the best product we possibly can. What we don’t really know is still what that schedule’s going to look like. Tiger said they’re trying to make changes that would take effect as soon as 2027, though. He said, “Look, the Champions Tour, he thinks it’s in his future. I’m going to play probably 25 events on both tours and I think that should cover most of the year, right? In reality, it’s probably a couple here and there. One kind of odd moment was when he was asked about the RDER Cup and that’s something we really don’t know is his future as Ryder Cup captain. No one’s asked me about it. I’m asking you about it. No one’s asked me about it. We know that he’s been watching a lot of golf and that he really has an admiration for what Scotty Sheffller did this year. I truly love watching him hit irons. Um the shape shots that he hits, the trajectory, the window changes that he has. Um the distance control, the miss in the proper spot, um the proper spin into certain pin locations. These are all subtle things that mean a lot over the over the course of 72 holes. And the most touching moment of the press conference came in the last question when Tiger was asked, “Hey, why are you so invested in all of this? why are you in so many Zoom meetings about the future of the PGA Tour? And here’s what he said. Well, the PJ tour gave me an opportunity to chase after a childhood dream. And I got a chance to hit my first ball in my first PJ tour event when I was 16 years old. I know that’s what 33 years ago. Um, but I’ve been involved with the PJ tour ever since then. Um, a little kid from Cypress, California, growing up on a par three course. um got a chance to play against the best players in the world and make it to the world number one. And um I got a chance to be involved in a lot of different things on our tour and this is a different opportunity to make an impact on the tour. I did it with my golf clubs and made a few putts here and there and was able to do that. Um, now I’m able to make an impact in a different way for other generations to
