What a golf swing! Even though it looks perfect, this golfer needs to work on her hinging to get back in correct synchronization. If you have the same problem, what the lesson and correct your hinging to get your club head in sync with the rest of the movements!

hi guys it’s Amy today is a swing analysis lesson let’s jump right into it by looking at the golfer of swing first [Music] [Music] so her swing is very clean but if you look at even a nice golf swing like this you can point out like 10 to 20 different things you could possibly work on she’s aspired to become a Cal PGA Tour player in the near future that’s where her swing is so good she gave me a list of things that she’s concerned with it’s a big list but bear with me let’s go through those she says her contact is inconsistent she lost a lot of distance and she feels like there’s no hinge in the takeaway she feels lifty at the top of the backswing and she doesn’t have much control over the club at the top so it feels like she has extra frames and on the way down the club that feels like it’s stuck behind her the weight we mean it’s too much on the right foot and she feels the spin out and then the chest ends up lunging forward and she ends up popping it pushing it slicing it wants to know while she over uses her hands and hooks it okay so it’s a lot of stuff but her main concern is loss of distance and I can totally relate to what she’s going through because we’re nice to compete it looks pretty good but when one or two things are off it feels like nothing’s working properly and I’m sure you guys can relate to when you’re playing golf you have a great day you feel like you’re the happiest person on the face of earth and then when you have a terrible day you feel like the world has ended and nobody talked to me because I’m not a happy person today so you guys know what kind of emotional roller coaster she might be going through right all right so what a great teacher does is that the teacher can prioritize the most important things to work on really well so the teacher might give zoom in one or two things to work on and that could really take care of like 15 of her problems that’s going on that’s what a great teacher does if you look at some in swing her body her stability is pretty good emotions are pretty good her stream plane positioning are pretty good the only thing is when you look at the club head it’s out of sync compared to the body’s movement so today I have to get her Club pet getting in sync better with the great body movement she has we call it work on the hip spinning out a little more stability but I believe if the club head is in the correct spot when she’s here if the club head is in the correct spot she won’t feel as spinning and the weight transfer will happen a little bit better if the club head is here if the club head is lacking behind is too slow then the body has to stop and wait for the club had to catch up that’s why the duration shift isn’t that great okay so in order for me to sync up the club had to rest of her body movements I have to show her the hinging like she mentioned she felt like she wasn’t hinging well and she was lifted she exact exactly right on that that’s the first thing she needs to work on and I really do believe that’s going to fix a lot of the problems that are going on in a swing so let’s just talk about hinging first why do we have to hinge we have to hinge so that the club can travel on the correct swing plane and the clubface orientation can stay square throughout the whole swing we can add great speed to the club head speed by hinging correctly that way we can hit it far with less effort and even when the club head is moving very fast if you hinge well then you have great control over that club head okay those are some of the reasons why we need to hinge and hinging whether you do early hinging or classical hinging it doesn’t really matter about halfway through your hinging is almost done after that half swing the momentum is what completes the rest of the wrist action so today I have to fix to means eight o’clock position eight o’clock is when this is a clock when the left arm points at eight o’clock the shaft is supposed to be parallel to the ground the shaft is supposed to parallel to the target and the cop told the club is pointing upward the square a lot of professionals prefer it slightly shut if you’re the early hinge your hand position is probably near the right thigh if you do classical it doesn’t really matter to be further away from your thigh but it should be about in the same position at eight o’clock okay so internet clock this is ideal position su means position is the hand is slightly high the cop is slightly low and is slightly under the plate okay so before we go right into that let’s talk about the wrist action really quickly so if you look at my wrist where the thumb is let’s call it the top part of the wrist and where the pinky the ball of the left palm is let’s call it the bottom part of the wrist Suman is actually lifting this top part of the wrist this way and what happens to the club head when you lift that part it goes down and under the plane and when you do this lift you doing you putting so much effort into it there’s a lot of tension in the front of your left shoulder and your wrist but the club is actually off plane and slow that’s what’s going on with her swing right so if you’ve seen my beginner series grip lesson you’re going to understand this really easy inside palm of your left hand it’s supposed to press down onto the twelve o’clock of your grip if you maintain this we’ll be able to get into this position right you wouldn’t you press the palm down the club head goes up with these and that’s how we hinge properly okay we don’t want any of this lifting a lot of effort and the club is not moving very well we don’t want that okay all right in order for me to fix this position the best way to do that is to do waggles you’ve probably seen Michelle we do all of these waggles she’s really good at over exaggerating that waggle that’s exactly what zoom in needs to do so this is ideal position zoom in is here we need to exaggerate for her in order to get it in the correct position we’re going to do this we’re going to feel like the hands are lower than where we want it to be we want the club had to feel higher than where we want it to be and we want it to feel like it’s more outside and over-exaggerating that way is going to kind of blend in with what she’s doing and eventually get it even out into the correct 8 o’clock position so we’re gonna go ahead into the exaggeration waggle and hit the golf ball so we’re trying to exaggerate the pushing down and clop it up and in front don’t worry about the results we’re just gonna focus on the takeaway feeling when I first start teaching this to my students and they get the correct hinging going there there is one common problem I see so they’re used to their body doing a lot of work and clip it being slow and behind the movements right but once they start hinging properly what happens is the club that starts picking up speed and the body becomes very calm so it feels like you’re not doing much work but the club head is doing all the work for you so when that starts happening your body says okay I am used to going faster than the club head but right now I feel like I’m not doing enough work okay I’m gonna go ahead and match the club head speed and then you start moving really fast and it becomes a huge mess so when you first start experiencing that and everything becomes super fast remember this point I just told you about you gotta keep reprogramming your body and say okay your body is supposed to do less work and the compound is supposed to speed up and do all the work for you and really slow it down and control that if you have similar problems to assuming is having if you’re not hinging well if you’re lifting or your club head is not in sync with the rest of the body then try that eight o’clock exaggerated waggle I showed you like Michelle Wie does and that way you can work less with your body and let the club head do all the work for you so that way you can hit it long and straight I hope you’re able to follow along if you have any more questions please come to asking me section leave your questions comments there I’ll get back to you guys on that thank you guys for watching and I’ll see you guys in the next video [Music] [Applause] you you
