putting is the key to winning more scramble events now unless you’re trying to beat that group of 15 handicappers who putt with their pencil and claim that they shot a 46 but if you’re playing honest putting is critical what if I told you that the putting strategy you use in scrambles of having your worst putter go first is absolutely wrong stick with me because in this video I’m going to share with you a new scramble putting strategy that my friends and I have been using to shoot lower [Music] scores we all agree that in a scramble format putting is critical I mean after all you’re most likely not going to be playing out of any bunkers or any hazards you’re going to be on the greens in regulation and the difference in birdies and Eagles and pars and Bogies is the putting now I understand everybody always puts their worst putter up first and he goes up and his heart’s not in it because he’s a bad Putter and he has the mentality yeah I can three putt from anywhere go from birdie to Bogey just like that he just doesn’t make a good stroke so your better Putters are watching they don’t learn anything from that guy because let’s be honest his putter face is pointed in One Direction his body is lined up on a second line and he Strokes the putt on yet a third and most of the time it’s the wrong speed nobody learned anything got any benefit from that next worst putter so your number three out of four putter steps up and he does what he normally does and it’s not that great and you really don’t learn much out of that so you’ve wasted two of your Strokes now you’re third guy hasn’t had the advantage of learning anything from these first two and so he does his best but he misses and now you’re Ace your best putter is up but he’s feeling a little bit of pressure and tension and sure he’s going to make some because he’s the best putter in your group but what if you could put him in a PTI position where he didn’t feel that pressure and stress and feel like he had to make everything and carry the whole scramble team putting on his back and then get the blame when you don’t win in the scramble event whereas if you go in this order best putter first so one then your third best putter second then your second best putter third and your worst putter last so one 3 2 4 I’m going to explain to you why it benefits you to go in that order have your best putter go first now here’s why your best putter is most likely the best green reader in the group so he’s got his read and instead of telling other people who don’t understand putting how to start it or where to start it he’s got his best read and he lines up and starts it there not only that the best putter in your group is also probably the best at blending the line and the speed so that the ball has the best chance of going in the hole so now he does that the other three are watching him and all of them because they’re worse Putters than him learned something about this particular putt How firm or soft to hit it what speed to hit it what line to hit it and see how it actually breaks and moves because he’s me your best putter if he misses it’s going to miss close now you put the third best putter so one and then three if you rank your your players 1 two three four in terms of who’s the best putter and then three now this guy’s going to do what he always does he’s watched the first guy so he has a better idea he’ll make a small amount more just because he saw a good run at it before he took his turn now you put your number two guys so it’s one three two you put your second best putter up there he now has the advantage he’ve seen a really good putter go at this putt so he knows he’s got an idea what to do there I find and and we’ve been doing it this way in my Scramble gops this second best putter who’s now putting third and has seen me Putt and seeing a not so good putter putt he all of the sudden is making way more because he’s got an idea how that ball rolls and breaks and he just needs a little bit of help to be a really good putter he’s got to see a good one and if he misses still now your fourth guy your worst putter has gone from not paying attention really not being into it just stepping up there and doing his normal lazy SWAT atdi it to all of a sudden he’s seen a really good run at the line he’s seen a mediocre one he’s seen a good one and he has an idea how to hit this putt and he’s clued in and he’s paying attention and he’s not under any pressure because he’s know he’s not a good putter but he also feels motivated and inspired because now the team is counting on him like I said I’ve been using this strategy last week the guy who’s the fourth or the worst putter in our group we shot it lights out incredibly good score and we said to him on the last hole we had about a 12 foot straight down the the hill put I knew that one of the four of us were going to make it and I said to this who’s this guy on our team who’s our worst putter go ahead and step up there and knock it in it’s straight down the hill and he stepped up up with confidence and rolled it perfect speed right into the middle of the cup think about what that does for him makes him a better putter all overall which improves your scramble team scores improves his enjoyment of the game you ought to try this it’s works really well for the scramble teams that I play with we’ve been doing it for about a month or a month and a half now helps us make more putts and I honestly believe it’ll help you and your teams do the same and if you like making more puts then you
