President Trump cheers on Team USA at Ryder Cup
President Donald Trump was spotted at the Ryder Cup at the Bethpage Black Course in Farmingdale, New York, cheering on Team USA on the first day of competition.
Her grandfather is United States President Donald Trump, her mother is currently dating Tiger Woods, and now 18-year-old Kai Trump is officially going to be a college golfer.
The University of Miami announced on Wednesday, Nov. 12 that Trump is joining its women’s golf team recruiting class in conjunction with the NCAA’s early signing day. Trump initially committed to play her college golf at Miami in August 2024 and signed her national letter-of-intent with the Hurricanes on Nov. 7 during a ceremony at her Palm Beach, Florida high school.
“I love the coaches. It’s close to home. Great school,” Trump told reporters earlier this week ahead of her LPGA debut at The Annika outside Tampa, Florida. “I love the people there. My cousins went there as well, so I know people that have gone there. You know, it’s a great university and I’m looking forward playing for them.”
The oldest daughter of Donald Trump Jr. and his former wife, Vanessa, is known as a golf influencer with growing reach on social media since entering the national spotlight as a speaker at the 2024 Republican National Convention on behalf of her grandfather.
Kai Trump already has her own clothing line, NIL partnership with Travis Kelce and Livvy Dunne, and an endorsement deal with TaylorMade. She has more than 8 million followers across multiple social media platforms and a recent video of her playing golf with President Trump generated more than 3 million views.
“We view any potential exposure as positive for Miami golf,” Miami women’s golf coach Janice Olivencia told The Associated Press.
Trump is currently ranked No. 461 in the Rolex AJGA Ranking for junior golfers and played in three AJGA events this season with a scoring average of 83.6. She is one of three invited amateurs playing at The Annika this week and is also a member of the golf team at The Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida along with Charlie Woods, the son of Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods confirmed last March he and Vanessa Trump are dating.
“My strengths are definitely ball striking,” Kai Trump told reporters this week ahead of her first professional round. “I’m a great ball striker. I think I need to strike it better around the greens and I’ve been practicing a lot with that, especially these greens are tough. You need to have good hands around the greens.”
