When it was announced in September that Trump International Golf Club in Doonbeg would host the 2026 Amgen Irish Open, many homeowners in west Clare were rubbing their hands with glee.
The prospect of renting out their property to wealthy spectators was a welcome one. Some were hoping to move out and go on holiday during the tournament, with their family home generating tens of thousands of euro in their absence.
