President Donald Trump is doing far more than constructing ballrooms, as he’s partnered with golf icon Jack Nicklaus to overhaul the golf facilities at Joint Base Andrews.
Trump is enlisting Nicklaus to help revitalize the courses, having taken an aerial survey of the base’s facilities, stating, “We’re going to do some work” there and across other areas of the installation.
“We’re doing some fix-up of the base, which it needs. We’re gonna try and reinstitute the golf courses. I’m meeting with the greatest Jack Nicklaus,” Trump informed reporters outside the White House before boarding Marine One bound for Joint Base Andrews. “He’s involved in trying to bring their recreational facility back.”

Located roughly 15 miles from the White House, the base serves as home to Air Force One and is securing a seasoned design team through Nicklaus’s involvement.
Notably, Nicklaus operates a company specializing in golf course design services. “Nicklaus Design, recognized as the world leader in golf course design, has created over 420 courses worldwide, open for play in 45 countries and 40 U.S states,” according to the firm’s website.

“For 50 years, the mission of Nicklaus Companies has been to enhance the golf experience and to deliver quality branded products and services on a global basis that mirror the high standards established in the career and life of its Founder, Jack Nicklaus.”
Nicklaus stands as a legendary figure in golf, having claimed 18 major championships and 73 PGA Tour victories.

“Jack Nicklaus once commented about team competitions in sports: ‘The most important decision you make is who you select as your partner,'” the Design website states.
“The strategy for the Nicklaus brands is to partner with the industry leader in each market segment or product category. As a result, the Nicklaus brands have enjoyed successful and long-term relationships around the world, some now eclipsing 50 years.”
Nicklaus design teams have formed partnerships with 26 companies.
On Saturday, Trump remarked that the Andrews base “was a great place that’s been destroyed over the years through lack of maintenance.”
The president went on to say, “And we’re looking at other things over at Andrews.”
Trump is a passionate golfer, and his granddaughter, Kai, is also breaking into the golfing world, having recently made her LPGA Tour debut at The Annika this month.
“Just don’t get nervous. Try my best not to,” said Kai Trump, sharing the advice she received from Trump before stepping onto the course.
