At the Scania truck test grounds in Sweden, mountain biker Matt Jones attempts to jump his bike between two moving trucks, through an impossible gap that exists for less than a second. The vehicles are autonomously controlled by @Scania_UK technology, driving in opposite directions with precision to create the tiny window for Matt to jump through 🚛

I’m about to jump my bike through these two moving trucks through a gap that will only exist for less than a second. Brutal. This first test is really important. So, I’m going to jump through two trucks stationary to check the head clearance cuz it’s going to be tight. This is disgusting. How are you not going to hit your head? I’m using an Audi RSQ8 here as a towing vehicle. It’s got 600 horsepower for getting me up to speed and massive ceramic brakes for stopping before hitting the side of a truck. Hit it, James. Oh, we go fast, huh? Lots of speed now. Yeah. How quick do you stop before? How was it on the front seat? I didn’t think we were going to stop. I thought we were going to hit it, but as we’re stopping, obviously, you just screen through at that speed. That feels like a slingshot. What’s next? Moving trucks. Yeah, that changes everything, man. That changes everything. So the takeoff’s probably the flattest jump I’ve ever done. And then we’ve got 1 meter to the first truck. So it’s about 8 m long. Every second the trucks move 11 m combined. So this gap is closing 11 m a second. So you’ve got about half a second left here. Yeah. That’s that that’s too late. So that’s horrible. That’s horrible. That’s horrible. That’s horrible. Yeah. Yeah. It can’t go too high, too low, too. Too right. Too fast. Too slow. Doom. You sure about this? Before I can jump through two moving trucks, first we have to test out whether I can even get through one. That gives me a window of 1.6 seconds to make it all the way through. So, my timing here has to be absolutely perfect, and there’s zero exit strategy. That’s why we’re using two of Scanyia’s driverless trucks. They’re programmed to cross at the exact spot I need with zero chance of human error. One moving truck, 1.6 seconds. It’s going to feel crazy with that back coming at me, man. So, this is going to be the first time he’s going to go through one moving trailer, and it’s really tense. Truck’s going. Truck’s moving. Get it, Matt. Just a jump. Jump. No jump. Let’s go again. Truck is ready. We’re ready now. Matt is ready on the bike. This is you. Yeah. See you in a minute. It’s just a jump, isn’t it? Just a jump. Oh my god. On the way in, I didn’t drop the handle properly. It got stuck on my thing and I only just stuck and it snagged like that. We need to put that behind us. M. I’m embarrassed. My head’s gone. It’s hard to get really ready for something and then get ready again and not know even if you’re doing it. Doesn’t matter. You’re all good. I’m set. What the You’re not. Put your helmet down. Get it back. It’s just a jump. Yay. Gone through it. I couldn’t I couldn’t breathe. And he’s just gone through one. Oh man, I feel emotional. That’s one truck down. Let’s go for two. We’ve got this. Matt wants to go through two moving trucks. as soon as we can. So, to try and take some of the uncertainty out of this whole thing, I’ve requested a traffic light system that Scanner have developed into a green light or a red light that will show on that screen, which determines whether or not it’s safe for me to go through both trucks. Both trucks have a GPS in them, which they need cuz they’re autonomous. But there’s now a GPS in this car, which is tracking its constant speed. Once it’s red or green, it shouldn’t change. Everything is traveling constantly. But it also will never change. No. Okay, trucks, are you ready? Starting engagement procedure now. I’ve not been down this end much. I think I’m about to see my twin brother jump through two trucks. We’re chasing a result now. The light’s going. We’re running out of time. It’s not a position you want to be in. Give me a green. We’re going through. Going through. It’s just a jump. Here we go. Moving. Oh no. Red. Let’s reset. Let’s reset. Done. Let’s go again. I thought he was going. I spent the whole day at the other end. The weird thing this side is he completely disappears. So, we can’t see him while the trucks are crossing. And it’s like I don’t know if he’s going or not. From the other side, you can see him slow down. But here, it’s just he’s either going to appear or he isn’t. This is so scary. We’re dancing in the right zone, man. We need to get there 210 quicker. Right before dark. I’m good. Running out of time. We’re really fighting the sun now. It’s basically set. I don’t know if it’s the right thing to do this late in the day. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Here we go. Come on. Check your marker. Check your marker. No. No. Red light. Red light in the car. Based on where the light is and where we are right now. We’re not going to get this done today. Oh man. I really feel for Matt, but we didn’t get a green light. It’s getting dark. So, we’re going to be back in the morning and he will do it. I’ve decided I’m not going to do the one truck again today. It’s just an added risk. I’ve already done it. I’ve got to have faith in the green light, which is based on autonomy, right? And Scan’s tech and engineers and all their work. So, I’m up at the start now and we’re running it. So, if I get a green, I’m going through. Man, it’s just going to Yeah. 0.8 8 seconds to not hit the side of a cab or get cleaned out of the other side or hit my head or go too low or go too fast or go too slow. See you on the other side. This is going to be the easiest, scariest thing I’ve ever done. Now we just go release through. It’s so hard to get my head back in the game. It feels like I’m going back to the start with this one. This is it. Two trucks. Two trucks. Two trucks. Green release through. Green release through. says stop. Red 0.04 seconds. That is hard to be so revved up for something and then have to abort it based on someone else. That’s not what I’m used to. This is tough mentally. Let’s go again. Red. We need a green. Get one. This is painful. Are you feeling like reluctance to see a green light cuz you’re getting all these reds? You know, are you ready for it? No, I’m just trying to turn my brain off. Yeah, just focus on go or no. Red. I’ve seen a lot of red lights in a row now. That’s because the margin between a red light and a green light is so tight. Like we just found out that we were 0.02 seconds away from a green. 200ths of a second. But that’s so important because a green still means I just skim the cab and then almost get cleaned out by the back of the next trailer. So, we have to be inside that window. It’s not a matter of if now, it’s a matter of when. And when I see green, I’m going through red. I’ve always loved getting out of my comfort zone, especially doing projects that scare me where precision and a bit of maths is so important. But I’ve never done a project where everything has to be so millimeter perfect. The margin for error is so small, but the consequences are so high. Now I have to truly believe that I can make it through. Trucks are clear. Out is ready. Green release. Jump through. Map is ready. Green. Come on. We’re going. Let’s go. Come on. Green release. Jump through. Green release. Jump through. Oh my god. It’s green. A hear you. Yes, James. That’s the way to cross the road, isn’t it? Well done. Well done.

Scariest thing I’ve ever done. Full stop
One day something will go wrong and some English will expire
I don't want to be the person responsible for programming the STOP/GO screen…
More AI than skill
Are they still selling soda ?
🎉🎉
Tylko jedno pytanie: PO WUJ?
But why?
Gonna be 0 jobs soon
Obviously general super intelligence is a dumb idea. Suicidal even. It is obviously much smarter to develop super human capabilities in specific limited tasks. A ban is fine but also seems a bit like trying to deflect attention from the fact that AGI seems far, far away and not realistic with current technologies.
AI bubble might be about to burst and AI that will survive is AI that helps achieve concrete specific results safely and reliably.
It's like people are saying 'ban people from jumping from earth to the moon'. Sure. It's probably not a good idea and even lethal to literally jump with your legs from here to the moon. It's also entirely unnecessary to instate this ban because there is no way in hell we can jump to the moon anyhow. "Ban AGI and ASI!" Right, as if we could even build it now.
Now they've gone too far
Unreal 🔥🔥🔥
Not that hard is it
Evel Knievel don't need no computer. 😄
Eh this was red bulls weakest stunt. It felt like a group of kids could have pulled this one off
😮😬😱😱😱
I'm probably gonna ask a dumb question here or missed it being mentioned in the vid but why the long run up to the ramp? To me it could have been shorter and still get up to the right speed etc and do the jump
Just use AI, much easier😂
A genre running out of ideas and original content, and then there's Matt Jones!!
👌
My Dacia is more enough for towing 😂
They just get dumber and dumber.
Drone got thru aswell….
Pretty dumb
Why not practice with the trucks going slower?
Ngl eventually a redbull stunt is gonna go bad.
good
How the truck is driving with no one inside ?
It seems like the safest moment to jump is nearly approaching (like 1 meter before the climb) the ramp while you see both drivers cabins in front of you
If everything is automated how hard is it really?
Wait where is the mini documentary for the drone operator here lmao
Kind of an underwhelming stunt, actually. The most impressive things were the drone operator and the engineers behind the self-driving trucks. The guy on the bike just followed through when all of the engineering told him to.
One big Meh.
1 milion people just saw "RedBull"

He understands it now.
Incredible work team. It’s crazy Matt jones progression with the Red Bull team.
,this is stupid
Celebrating escaping death haha 😅
