Fore The Golfer: Changing A Hole Location
In the latest edition of Fore The Golfer, we take a closer look at what goes into changing a hole location, and talk about how you can avoid damaging them when you are on the course. Check back every week for the latest video on how course care impacts you, the golfer!

Hey Billy Casper Golf, I hope you're listening!! My local course is terrible at changing hole locations, and you guys need to get on them. Sylvan Glen Muni in Troy, MI, they might change the hole twice a week, if we're lucky, and they put these horrible plastic ring liners that go up to the top of the surface of the green.
You end up getting a major "anthill" going up to every single hole, and the turf gets trashed.

I always wondered how this was done.
rich and informative
Interesting! I NEVER knew that they changed holes on a golf course! Listening to this video, though, it makes sense. Thanks for the upload, USGA!
Now I will purposely do all the things it told me not to do
Fake birdsong is piped in to replace wildlife executed by turfgrass chemicals
Who’s the tool removing the ball with putter?
This is so satisfying.
Why dont golf courses ever spray paint the tops white its a simple step that gives a completed look
Leave it open, I like holes
If you see someone sticking their putter in the hole, stick your putter up theirs
Good for all golf courses.
This is exactly how it’s to be done. This is how I was instructed.
well who the hell knew???
Be great if my course didn't put the dam hole within inches of the corner of the green. Every bloody green on the course!
I’ve golfed quite a bit in my 38 years, mainly when I was growing up. I’d golf with my dad and his side of the family and even played golf in high school. I NEVER knew they moved holes around. My mind is literally BLOWN! 🤯
There should be a ring around the hole the the green keeper stands on when he pulls the turf out for the new hole to prevent the turf around the hole rising.
Eg the hole is actually level with the surrounding green.
I was always wondering how they fix the old holes lol
I did greens keeper work for a couple summers. The craziest part about it was clocking IN at 4am. (I was in my teens and trust me when I say my buddies and I that worked there weren’t always sober when we clocked in. You can imagine the shenanigans especially early in the shifts)😂. We had to be done around noon or 1. Mowing the greens with a mechanical push mower before the sun comes up is odd.
