Tom McKibben’s Hong Kong Open lead continues with a strong third round performance. Tom McKibben maintained his lead at the Hong Kong Open with a stellar third round score of 65, further solidifying his bid for the prestigious Masters and Open Championship. This performance builds on his impressive opening round of 60 and a consistent second round of 65. On the third day of the tournament, McKibben faced a challenging start with a bogey and two birdies in the opening four holes at Fanling. However, he demonstrated his skill by adding another birdie on the 12th hole and then showcasing his prowess with consecutive birdies on holes 16 and 17, finishing the day with a total score of 65. The winner of the Hong Kong Open will secure a spot in the 2026 Masters, while the highest placed non-exempt player who makes the cut will earn a place at the 154th Open Championship. McKibben, a native of Northern Ireland, is making his first attempt to qualify for the Masters and the Open Championship at Royal Burkedale in July. After 54 holes, McKibben’s lead over MJ Maguire was reduced to just one shot with Peter Uline two shots behind and Kirk Afabarnat and Scott Hen trailing three shots behind.
