This morning she heard me talking about golf and said, “Dada, I wanna golfing.” So I called my local course and were awesome about fitting us in.
She sat in the cart clutching a plastic club, snacks, and a juice box like they were made of gold. Every shot I hit she yelled “YAY DADA!!” and clapped like I was Tiger in his prime. Score didn’t matter (I stopped counting at some point). When I left a putt way short she ran out, grabbed the ball, brought it back and handed it to me with the biggest grin: “Here go, Dada.”
That’s when I lost it.
Watching her light up over something I love, seeing her little face every time the cart moved, hearing that belly laugh on every bump… man. Nothing has ever hit me this hard. My favorite thing in the world and my favorite person in the world, together, both of us stupid happy for two straight hours.
I’m 37 and today was the best day of my life.
Heart’s too big for my chest right now. Just had to tell somebody.

I always wanted to but have an irrational fear of a ball hitting them in the head.
When I was a STAHD I used to play 9 with my girls middle of the day we were all alone. They’d run all over the place tending the pin and making sand angels. And they loved raking bunkers. They’d pass out in the cart (sometimes in the basket even) if I played the back 9. They still talk about those days.
Fuck my son would immediately sprint towards any flying club and wanna hit all his own shots. Sit in the cart and enjoy her juice box??? You’re a lucky fucking dude.
I didn’t take a cart, just my Buggy and my 2 y/o daughter’s little bike. Pretty sure it took us around 3.5hrs to play 9 holes. Was an absolute blast though, when I put her in the car to go home she ate nearly a whole punnet of blueberries in around 3 seconds and feel asleep haha. Aren’t they the best.
I want to, but my 2 year old would be loud and would just take off sprinting in a random direction
My kid learned to drive on the golf course lol. She’s 18 now and at college. Can’t wait I see her thanksgiving.
Thank you for this. I did the same when mine was two. Brought her iPad and some snacks and she loved it. Especially the ride in the cart. I was playing with some guys and played one of my best rounds ever. Loved that day! I wish they could stay that age forever.
Edit: I would edit this pic and put it on a wall.
That’s so awesome dad! I can’t imagine a more perfect day.
How awesome! My daughter is almost 2 weeks old and I can’t wait to get out on the course with her. May you and yours continue making amazing memories together out on the links.
Nothing better. Favorite memories of driving in the golf cart and they have a hot dog loving it
I can’t wait for this. My boy is 8 months and I’m so ready to be able to have him out on the course and enjoying himself. We’ve been to the range once but going around the course will be so fun
What a pic 🥹
Man. My daughter has just started First Tee earlier this year after only riding around in the car with me the last few seasons.
I’ll lend her my putter and listen to her count the putts. “7… 8… 9! Daddy I did it in nine! Next time I’ll do it in eight!”
I love that about her.
Gonna see if my 8 year old is interested after seeing this 😇

Bro—you won at life! Congrats.
It’s precious!! I hope it can continue for you, mate.
My Dad used to take me, with one of my uncle’s, whenever they played golf together. Would have been about 5/6. I used to clean his golf balls in the on course cleaners, take the flag out for him when he was putting and survived on Mars bars and Snickers. Some of the best memories from my childhood.
So were the group playing behind you.
Just took my 2 year old girl golfing for the first time she made it a full 18 holes! Been golfing five years and that was the most fun I’ve ever had with a club in my hand
I was probably 4 when my Dad starting taking me with him in the early 80’s.
He cut down a beater steel shafted 3wood to kid sized. And wrapped a grip up with some medical tape. I definitely remember having my own sized real putter with a real grip. He’d bury them both deep in his golf bag. And after we got away from the proshop. He’d toss a ball out someplace way closer and let me play and putt out.
People say you can’t remember stuff from that young. But I guarantee you there’s some stuff that just ends up so impactful to lil kids that, at least some us can remember the really cool stuff.
I was in Jr. golf by 6. He got me my first full set of Wilson, Cougar, Junior clubs. And in year 3, at 8 I hit an Ace! Was the first Ace in that Jr. Golf program. Dad went to *Price Club*, bought like 10 cases of sodas. For us to hand out the next week.
Cheers man!
I love this so much for you. Congrats my friend.
This is the stuff life is worth living for – thank you for sharing, looking forward to doing the same with my 2yo soon!
I have played the first tee time on Sunday basically every weekend with my youngest daughter since she was 2 yo (she’s now 5). We play 18 in about 2 hours. She’s “one of the boys” amoung the hardcore golfers at my club.
Would have it no other way.

Goddamnit, y’all are making want to have kids.
Couldn’t be happier for you OP my 3 y/o nephew is enamored with the game. I’m jealous my brother gets to share that with his son
