[Music] Hey guys, welcome back to Modern Golf. Hope you’re having a great day and even better week. We have tested over 63 different golf balls this year from 30 to one brands. I want to say 30 brands. These are the best golf balls for 2025. So, what we’ve done, same thing we’ve done the last few years, is we test golf balls with a number of handicaps from our zero plus handicaps to our handicaps that are in the 30s and 40s and really everybody in between. We do this really two ways. Uh we test them indoors, we test them outdoors, but we also test them and we’ll show you this list by price point and also the best for each handicap. And what we decided to do this year was kind of list a few options for every price value uh and price threshold as well as each handicap. So you have an option uh either or or multiple for some. So let’s get into this list. The first list is going to be the golf balls that are under $20 a dozen. And so how we do this with pricing is we average pricing out between sales and retail and promotions and really what the average price. So some of these are right on the cusp. Um so they can go either up or down, but we left kind of the pricing where it’s at. So um you’ll understand kind of where we’re at with this. So the best golf balls under $20. First one up, the Wilson Duo golf ball. I will sing this ball’s praises until they stop making it. Phenomenal golf ball. Uh you can usually get it right around 20 bucks. has white, matte colors, all kinds of colors. I stick with the white one. Uh but you do you this time of year in the fall, uh it’s great to probably have a brighter color golf ball. But the first one for under $20 is the Wilson Duo. The second one on this list, uh that we’ve really just started testing and really have enjoyed, and that’s the Amazon Core Soft Golf Ball. I know it’s sold out and people don’t yell at me. This ball will come back in stock at some point. Don’t worry. Uh for $12 a dozen, it is a phenomenal golf ball. Uh, it is not a Prov1. It’s not a Prov1 killer, uh, as some of you people say. Uh, it’s a very good golf ball. Very soft. Feels great. Not the greatest spin on wedges. Uh, feels great off the putter. Long. It is a long golf ball and soft. So, it’s kind of like the new version of the Noodle, let’s say. Uh, but I would say with better playability. And if you haven’t checked out a review, check out our review here of the Amazon golf ball. I think you guys would really get a kick out of it. The other one is the Super Soft by Callaway. Very good golf ball. has the same kind of attributes I would say as uh the prior two that on this list. Some people like this ball better than others. Me, it doesn’t really perform that great. Uh I think it’s a good golf ball. Um but I’d say it’s right in the same threshold between the Duo and the Amazon golf ball. And last on this list, just because if you buy them in bulk, you can get the better price and get it under $20, is the Vice Tour golf ball. This to me is a phenomenal golf ball. a lot of bang for your buck, really good golf ball, a better action around the green than the prior three. Uh, but again, the most expensive of the four on this list for under $20, but those are the ones we want. And I know a lot of you guys are going to say the Kirkland ball, the three, again, we’ve tested them all. The Kirkland does not I don’t think bang for your buck uh come close to some of these. And I don’t think the the spinning aspect around the green is nearly as good as some of these. But again, so $30 and under, and I think this is the sweet spot for 90% of golfers to be fair. Um, this is where I would say if you’re a 20 handicap, and we’ll get into this, um, to almost a five, even if you’re a zero, these are the golf balls that I think you get the most bang for your buck. Um, and really have the action around the green that a lot of you probably want for, and reduces the sid spin, which a lot of us want. Um, and really do it all. But that $30 price point, I think, is the sweet spot, uh, for the golf ball. But here’s the balls that we think are the best for under $30. First one is a Shrixon Qstar Tour. And I know you’re going to say, “Jeff, it’s a $40 golf ball.” Again, we’re averaging price. If you go on the website now, it’s buy three, get one free or buy two, get one free. So, it averages 30 bucks. All summer long, they’ve run a promotion. So, again, we’re averaging it out. Stricks QStar Tour is one of the best golf balls. When I look back in the last couple years when I’ve been playing this golf ball, some of my best rounds I’ve been using this golf ball. uh very good distance, not great spin around the green, but good spin around the green and a very soft feeling golf ball. So, I really enjoy and we all have tested and enjoyed the Srixon Qstar Tour. The other golf ball which we just started trying this year and we tested extensively. I mean, this ball maybe been tested more than anything else we’ve ever tested is the Snell 3.0. And maybe it’s the tour. I’ll put the information up. It’s almost like I took the Qstar Tour and the 3.0 0 and and they almost mirror each other. Same attributes, very close, same almost same price point, same everything. I really have enjoyed the Snell golf balls. Had some great rounds with these golf balls. Very good action around the green. Not as good as their 4.0. But I would say for the average golfer, this is a very good golf ball and a very good price point. The new Bridgestone Eseries this year. Again, if I had one shocker this year of all the balls, maybe besides the Snell that have really surprised me are these these Bridgestone golf balls, the E12. We met with the team last year at the PGA show and again it was kind of like, oh, okay. Like, me too. Yeah, we have a great new golf ball. We all played this um from 20 handicaps to 30s plus handicaps to two handicaps and myself who’s between, let’s say, an eight and 10. um really surprised on this whole series of golf balls. Very long, good action around the green. Um the mindset technology where you could kind of, you know, you want to concentrate. There’s those three-step process which I really think is cool. I don’t know how many people are really using it, but a very cool thing. But that series of golf balls have really probably been the biggest surprise that I’ve dealt with this year in 2025, and that’s the Bridgestone E-series golf balls. the other series, and we have two more for this list for this particular price range. The Vice Pro series, I don’t care if you want the plus or the non plus, doesn’t matter to me. Incredible golf balls. I think the only problem I have, and there’s not a problem with Vice, is to get this price point, you got to buy five. But if you know this is the golf ball you want, it’s a it’s incredible bang for your buck. Very, very good golf ball. Again, I don’t care which series you want. Now, they have um I want to call them their Torstripe cuz that’s another name, but they have their where it’s a little easier to line up for putting. I like what they’ve done. I’ll put the information up of what they’re calling it. And lastly, I besides maybe um the Bridgestone, the biggest surprise for me was the Maxfly Tour Series golf balls. Um I don’t know if I can say enough about these golf balls. I played uh their X and then the regular version. I personally prefer the regular just because the feel off the putter, but distance the X is better. Around the green, I would say the the standard is a little better. But if you can buy these, and you can buy these now from Golf G, Golf Galaxy or Dicks, $29 a dozen, it’s a it’s a steal. It literally is probably the And we’ll save this for later. Anyway, so those are the best $30 and under golf balls. So, let’s go $40 and under. So, there’s not a ton on this list, surprisingly. We kind of jump uh from 30 to 50 pretty quick, but three balls that we really have enjoyed this year. The first one, again, and I’m going because of the average price, is a Srixon ZAR series golf balls. Um, I play the Divide, which is the Do I have one over here? No. Oh, maybe I do. So, I am a huge fan of this golf ball, uh, which is the Divide, which has the the white and the kind of neon yellow green. Um, love that golf ball. Had some of my best rounds. That’s why it’s in here. I shot, I think, two underpar uh with that ball this year. just really really solid golf ball. Uh really good off the tea. Uh really good around the green. I love that alignment for putting just a really good golf ball when you can pick these up like currently and they’re on sale. They are I think some of the best bang for your buck for a golf ball. Uh the other thing I like about the white and the neon yellow, uh it’s very easy to find your golf ball in a world of all white golf balls. I like those because I can kind of find them easier. So that’s number one. Number two is the tailorm made is the tailor made tour response. I initially didn’t like this golf ball. I don’t find it nearly as long as the X. I just don’t the 5 series or the X. Um but the action on the green, the putting, the alignment, I really have enjoyed this golf ball. Again, it’s not my favorite from Tailor Made, but a very solid golf ball. And the other one, just cuz it sneaks in a price point, but could be one of the best golf balls overall is the Snell 4.0. And so we’ve tested the 3.0, the 2.0, 0 really all of their golf balls. The 4.0 really shocked me. Uh, incredibly good golf ball. May spin a little more than I would like maybe on long irons and drivers in comparison to the 3.0. Uh, but again, very, very, very good golf ball. And again, I think for the bang for your buck, it’s an incredible value. Uh, if you’re looking for that tour elite style of golf ball. So, now let’s get to the $50 and over. And this list has grown every year, which is almost comical. Uh, first one up. If I break par or get a hole in one or something, the ball goes in here. So, people are asking. Um, I absolutely love Tailormaid’s golf balls. TP5, TP5X. I love with the graphics. We’ve talked about this in the past. Um, I think that ball, especially if you buy, you can go on their website and get them. I think it’s two dozen of misprinted ones for $69. It’s a bargain. 35 bucks a ball. Uh, you get all kind of designs. It’s kind of a an overprint or misprint or whatever they want to call them. They put practice on it. They play just like a regular golf ball. They’re just there may be some type of graphic error on there. Phenomenal golf ball. Uh I think it’s one of the best, if it’s not one or two of the best golf balls this year. It is up there. But the TP5 and TP5X are both incredibly good golf balls. Another golf ball that I really surprised me this year is the Callaway Chrome Triple Diamond. And this may be the longest ball on this list of all the balls we’ve tried and the Shrixon Ulta Speed and really everything else and the Prov1X left dash and really all those. The Triple Diamond I think may be the longest golf ball. The only thing I would say I don’t love about a little firm and to me doesn’t it’s not the greatest around the greens. Uh those little nip wedges doesn’t check up like the last one we’re going to mention. And the last one we’re going to talk about shouldn’t be a shocker to anybody and that’s the Prov1 and the Prov1X. And you can go left dash and blue dot and really all the other things as well. The thing I will say about Tylist, which I like I think more than any other brand on this list, is the consistency of their golf balls. Um, I don’t have one that doesn’t feel like another one. Uh, it doesn’t fly shorter. It feels identical. And I would say I would say with Titalist, everything is so consistent across the board. There is no hot balls or slow balls or anything like that. They’re all really, really consistent and very, very good. I think that’s the reason it’s probably the number one played ball on tour. It’s just super consistent. Very long, very great around the green. There’s really nothing I would change about the Prov1 or X or Left Dash or any of those. So, those are the price point ones. Now, let’s get into the best balls that we would recommend for your each handicap. So, best high handicap golf ball. Um, I would say you’re brand new to the game. Let’s say you’re a 30 plus handicap. Let’s call it 25 and on up, right? Two balls I really would really highly suggest. One is the Amazon golf ball, and people say, “Ah, it just came out.” I’m telling you, for 12 bucks, it doesn’t. It does everything a Kirkland everybody else ball does better, uh, but for less money. So, I know they’re sold out currently. Again, I don’t get an affiliate. I don’t care if you ever buy them or not, but just a really good golf ball. The other one I would say, just cuz it sneaks in price pointwise, is the Vice Tour golf balls. I think for under $20, these are the two best balls for high handicaps. Um, and I would say high handicaps, don’t be afraid to use this next uh section as well for mid handicaps or golf balls. I always tell everybody when you’re looking for a golf ball, listen, if you’re spraying the ball all over the place, okay, I get it. Listen, you don’t want to lose 40 golf balls around. But if you are really serious about your game and you shoot around 100, you’re trying to break 90, you’re in that world, find a golf ball that does more for you around the green and 100 yards and in worry about from the tea. um you know, you can hit almost any of these golf balls straight off the tea, but if it doesn’t check up around the green, you’re going to lose those strokes. So, don’t uh poo poo the mid handicap, even low handicap balls on this list for you as well. So, mid handicap balls, there’s two that I absolutely love. And again, we’re talking about value and what it does. Qstar Tour. Uh I think you can get this ball for $ 20ome dollars when they’re on promotion. It is a killer golf ball. I think they’re normally $40 a dozen. They always run promotions where you buy two get one free. So you’re basically paying 80 bucks for three dozen or 2325 $26 a ball if my math is right. Yeah, 26 something a ball. I just don’t think there’s a better golf ball out there for $26. The other one I really like is the Snail 3.0. Again, they’re almost to me like sisters of each other. They’re very close in attributes. They’re very close in the same attribute. So, I don’t think you’ll miss one or the other, but both very, very good ball for the mid- handicap player. Low handicap, uh, very simple for me. TP5X, uh, a Prov1X. Uh, and again, you can go standard TP5 or standard Prov1. It does, you’re not hurting my feelings one way or another. I actually prefer the Prov1 9X this time of year when it’s softer. I like that ball a little more. Um, but those are the two balls I really, we have really tested and really have enjoyed for low handicaps. Lastly, what golf ball on this entire list gives you the best bang for your buck? And it’s very simple. The MaxFly Tour series. It is as good as the $55 Pro V1 for almost half the price. Uh I wanted to hate this golf ball. I really did. I did not think the hype when we started playing this year, the end of last year and beginning of this year was really worth a whole lot. I’ve played it a lot this year. I’ve had other people test this ball a lot. Uh my homeboy Joe, who was on this channel every once in a while, tested this golf ball for me uh on a number of rounds and and his answer to me uh in very short and sweet was same as a prov 1x. Um and Joe plays to about a scratch or maybe a one or two handicap, very elite player. Um and if he can’t tell a difference and me as an eight can’t tell a difference, I think most people can’t tell a difference. And for under 30 bucks, it is an incredible incredible golf ball. So, get at me. I know there’s a lot of golf balls we’re still testing. Uh, I can’t tell you the names, but a lot of cool things going on with new golf balls. What balls do you think we missed? What balls you think we hit on? Uh, again, I think this list we have hit, I don’t know how many different shots. I think it’s 10,000 plus shots this year with all these different golf balls. A lot of swings, a lot of shots, a lot of bad swings, a lot of good swings. Um, but I think you guys would get a great idea of kind of what we go through in an annual basis. 60some different balls from I think it was 22 or 32 different brands of testing golf balls and these are really the best of the best for us. So if you guys have any questions, some things you hate, some things you like, I get it. Let us have it. Uh get at us. Um certainly leave your comments. If you have any questions or concerns, let us know. Um and we will catch up with you guys next time. Thanks, guys. Heat. Heat.

Great video. I usually score in the 90s, I have been using the Srixon soft feel and really like it.
Donyou like the qstar divide just as good
Amazon balls compression is very, very low.
copy kat (golf ball addict). I play the Pinnacle Rush-Maxfli Trifli
Love the Vice Pro's
Amazon balls at $16/dozen still a good deal?
i play the snell 3.0 now. i used to play the snell get sum. love the snell balls and great value.
I use the Vice Drive
Most surprising balls I played this year was the MaxFli tour x
Just sucks they’re barely available to buy other than golfworks in Canada
You talk about what you liked but not what other handicap level players liked. What swing speeds are you talking about?
I think the Kirkland is amazing, I get a ton of green side and wedge spin. This is my first year in a long time playing it. And if you have the red stripe box it’s pretty amazing, versions veggies that were lacking
Just got some Amazon balls. Excited to try them out. For the price cannot be beat.
Please add Renegade MBU Tr3 Golf ball to your testing. It's a worthy alternative for tour level performance balls.
Love the review. However, I’ve never understood the ranking of golf balls by handicap. Why does it matter if budget is not an option?
I have been playing the Vice Pro's for the last few months, but based in reviews, ball tests, and videos like this I picked up some Maxfli Tour, Tour X, and the TM Tour Response's. I will be playing a few rounds with each soon, and also taking them to my fitter and putting them on his launch monitor to see which one is putting up the best #s overall.
great review! great list of golf balls and you cannot go wrong with any of them. def do not sleep on that maxfli
Cannot believe there was no mention of the Wilson Triad or Tour Model.
Sweet spot in the golf ball spectrum of distance and spin control: Srixon Z-Star ◇. Hands down the the Titleist Left dash, a ball that went unchanged for 8 years because they could improve upon what it did.
Vice Pro, outstanding ball, drip, stripe.
Wilson Triad is a great mid handicap ball
Have y’all tried the Legato golf balls? “Engineered to help you break 90”
Vice: Pro's under $30 delivered for 1 dozen on prime days.
Snell: found 3.0, a unique yellow & used 3 rounds; great
Srixon: Q & Z both nice
Maxfli: great if want to buy 4 dozen & stick to 1 type
Not mentioned under $30: Legato 3085, Trust Bison.
My two favorite balls are the TP5 and Srixon Z Stars. Z stars are so underrated!
Sub $40…have to look at PXG. They are around $30 for "heroes"
I agree! I have been playing the Maxfi tour golf balls and absolutely no significant differences than a ProV1.
