Simulators are just a better cheaper version of top golf in my opinion and they are the future of this type of activity

  2. A bad product about to get worse with PE vultures and the inshitification of everything

  3. SoapNooooo

Get ready for the enshitification of Top Golf.

    Oh dear. Bye bye TopGolf.

Maybe a chance to pick up some tech when they liquidate.

Man, if there was ever a company that got WAY over its skis.

we have launchpad in canada and the novelty has kind of worn off. one opened near me a couple years ago and wiped out the courses existing range except for 2 spots to warm up. i think its stupid that they put the golf fee on the food and bev bill so when you tip its massively inflated and they look offended when you ask to separate them.

in my personal time i never go but for entertaining clients that like golf but don’t want a 5 hour commitment its pretty good.

  7. I had a lot of fun at Top Golf but fuck me was it expensive. It was an amusing thing to do exactly once.

I went there for some BDay fun last weekend. Wow has it gone downhill! The service was shit, very few servers, the food was served in cheap metal bowls, and it was really expensive! That is my last time. Good bye Top Golf.

I see “Private Equity” and I know this thing is destined for the trash bin.

I’ve Used Top Golf as a cheap way to practice, but I also got a first responder discount, and paid for my membership for the entire year. Comes out to 60ish bucks a month, get unlimited golf Monday-Friday till 5 Pm, and get 20% off food and merchandise. It’s a great way to get in two or three hours of practice on my day off, and I usually invite a few friends, who pick up my food tab since they golf for free. Definitely feel like I get my monies worth, hopefully nothing changes

Shit was just way too expensive. It’s fun but once you add food into it it’s easily $100+ territory for 2 people. I love top golf to taking clients or something on the company card, when going personally, no chance. Rather go to Putt putt with my kids if I’m being honest.

I am so fucking sick of PE buying everything.

As a golfer, Top Golf is useful only because my extended family who know I golf but don’t know anything about golf constantly buy me Top Golf gift cards, which I must then go to Top Golf to use.

Callaway just makes awful business decisions.

TG is fun to go with family and friends but holy fuck is it overpriced. I can definitely see people losing interest over the next couple years (if not already) and it closing up shop eventually.

Bye Bye TG. Selling to a company that thrives on profit makes less than profitable businesses go away. And if TG was profitable, Callaway would have kept it.

The challenge with Top Golf is that the total addressable market includes a lot of golfers who just aren’t interested in golfing the way Top Golf delivers it. They want to play golf. If they want practise they will hit proper ranges or indoor sim facilities which are golf focused and almost always less expensive. The other portion of the market is non-golfers and Top Golf is likely a fun night out for them, but an expensive one that competes with things like bowling, hitting a bar, escape rooms, etc – and because they are non-golfers, those things win out more often.

I’m a golfer and found Top Golf fun, but I’d rather be golfing over Top golf every single time, and since Top golf isn’t appropriate for practise, I’d rather practise at the range and on the sim during winter.
