After building my first putter and getting some feedback – especially about how much it weighed which was only 210g, I've built a few more and tried to get as much weight in as possible.

It seems like 300g is about the max for the blade version. The mallet putter has 330g and could easily get it up to around 400g but I think that is way too heavy for my liking. The 330g feels very nice.

I took the blade and the mallet out to the putting green and they roll very nicely. I'll be keeping the mallet in the bag.

They are made from Ironbark and Ringed Gidgee, and the lighter one is Spotted Gum. All these timbers are very, very hard and will take a bit of a beating. They are finished with 3 coats of hardwax oil and then polished with carnauba wax.

You should start an Etsy page and sell these. I’d use one just to see the reaction of others.

Man, If you could make the dowels out of brass it would add weight and look rad. That being said, very cool putters. You should sell them.

What about a country based series where you use a country’s related wood?

    Canada – Maple
Japan – Gingko or Sugi (杉)
    USA – Oak
    Scotland – Scots Pine
    Australia – Acacia
    etc

One of my students has a wooden putter here in Vietnam (not yours). It feels so nice off the face.

Reminds me of those Japanese park golf clubs – would buy one.

Cool. How’d you get into making these? What does your process look like? I’d be interested in trying to do something like this

  7. Add an insert on the face and you could have a decent side business.

Love it. I’m sure I used it for months. I’m old. These days, I have too many bone spurs to really play, but I can grab 3 or 4 putters and spend a couple hours on the putting green.

I have a wooden one from a company called Musty Putters. I’ve never gamed it but I practice with it sometimes.

Can’t decide if I like it or not.

    Either way, beautiful work!

Why wood? Does that cause negative torque putters? Is that what comes after 0 torque?

  11. Definitely fake, you can tell by… 🤣🤣 just kidding, they look cool!

  12. Adding a steel or brass base plate (like the old persimmon clubs had) would likely help out with weight and possibly durability.

I wonder what a tonewood putter might be like. If I could make one right now I think I’d try a sapele body and cocobolo face.

In my mind a good ball strike with one of these would sound similar to a sweetly timed cover drive.

Make a Zero Torque one and ull have people lining up lol

  15. We have 3, 5, 7 and 9 woods, now we have the green wood.

    Kudos my man
