Curious what people pay for a full membership at their local golf club and what’s included?

I pay €1,800 for a full membership at my home club near Berlin.
It includes unlimited playing rights on both the 18-hole and 9-hole courses — no additional green fees or anything like that.
Range balls are not included.
That’s basically it.

I feel like the price is really good, especially considering the proximity to a major city in Germany.

~$3000 per year at a 9 hole course in Rhode island. Restaurant on site with $50 min spend a month from april-october, no pool, no tennis, no range only practice green, practice bunker and chipping area and a big net to hit into.

€139 per month just outside Munich in Germany. That was the introduction rate for new members, think it goes up to €150ish next year.

I do pay extra for a locker and unlimited range balls too.

American country club prices are insane to me, but guess the earning potential in the US is greater.

£2200/year and no joining fee as been there since I was 18 but would be £5k. Links course in Scotland where I can turn up at 8am on a Saturday and walk on immediately as it’s completely dead.

  21. We pay about $9000 per year for a Gil Hanse designed original course in metro Philadelphia. For my wife and me, it’s money well spent.

I think there’s a huge difference between a private country club membership and a membership at a public (semi-private) golf course.

Private clubs (here in the US) have large initiation fees plus monthly dues. Paying for exclusivity and the country club experience.

Semi-Private/public course memberships are just a yearly fee, but share the course with everyone.

  27. Different-Bed1942

$850 per year for 9 hole course, walking only. Unlimited playing rounds. Chipping/putting green but no range. – Michigan

    California, $125k initiation fee, $2k a month

  29. hmstanley

2k initiation, $800-1000 a month. Sacramento CA region. 2 course club.

  30. Charlotte, NC – $35k initiation, $600 monthly dues. Usually ends up around $1000/month after food/drinks and occasional guest fees.

Here come the down votes for no reason. £300k ish, 2 courses, London.

Unlimited playing, guest invites, exclusivity, dogs can walk around with me. It’s also a hotel and spa, swimming pool and tennis etc. The golf has a driving range with prov1 practice balls, a chipping area, practice bunkers, putting green. It’s all about service, when i pull up they radio in that I’m coming up the driveway, they park my car and take my clubs to the range and get me a coffee, I just have to walk down to the locker room and change. I have a designated locker. If I want breakfast they’ll bring it out to me while im playing, playing with a caddie is mandatory though there is a caddie fee of about £80 each. You also get access to exclusive tournaments, most members of the club have some form of fame or wealth or talent in the golf space so it’s great networking. There’s some portion of membership fee that goes toward share holding and charitable contributions.

I live in a golf community in Colorado mountains. Stunning course, the HOA fee includes my membership cost for the entire house. There are 5 of us and we all play golf. The HOA fee is $600 a month. I’ve played over 120 rounds this year, my wife is on about 80 and my daughter probably 70. Two sons between them are at around 50, they do other stuff like camping and mountain biking.

The HOA fee is the same whether we play golf or not. So we play. Joining fee was about $7k.

If you’re active duty military in San Antonio, TX, ranks E-1 to E-4, it used to be that you could pay $500/year and play at four of the military courses for free if walking, or $14 with a cart. The yearly price depends on your rank, so senior NCOs and officers will pay a bit more. I think it’s still the same now.

Also, again, for active duty military, the Duke’s Club membership for Spyglass Hill, Spanish Bay, and Del Monte is half off.
Bayonet and Black Horse have monthly passes for E-1 to E-6 for $87, free walking or $25 for a cart.

Membership? To a private country club? In San Diego?

I could sell a kidney and not have enough money..

  37. parkingthru

I pay €3580 in Rome at Marco Simone, which hosted the Ryder Cup two years ago. That included a locker, club storage, all your golf and access to the practice area (range balls extra) and obviously no initiation/joining fees. Course doesn’t close in winter. Has a pool open in summer

  38. $1,800 initiation fee,$460 monthly dues, no minimum bar, two course 36 holes plus a third course about 15 mins away for a discounted price. The first two course are about 10-15 mins apart and you can hit range balls as both. Only downside for me is the course is about 35mins from home. This is central Virginia.
There two other country clubs that also don’t require an invitation which are 10k and 9k initiation fees and around $600 monthly with minimum bar.
A four for 3k initiation fees and ~$480 monthly, that one is again over 30mins from my house. The two most expensive and really nice country clubs are close to me but I’m not paying 10k.

There’s a PGA level country club close as well but that freaking place is 125k invite only.
