After a 15-year expedition throughout the state, the Ford New South Wales Open makes its return to The Vintage Golf Club in 2025.

One of the largest prize purses on Australian soil, the $800,000 event will again showcase the depth of Australian golf and the pathways Golf NSW provides for professionals and amateurs across the state.

Defending champion Lucas Herbert, a three-time DP World Tour winner, returns to defend the title he claimed at Murray Downs Golf and Country Club last year. He’ll face a strong field on the Greg Norman–designed layout, including several NSW players eager to make their mark.

Nathan Barbieri, the current Order of Merit leader, is chasing his first win on home soil, while Avondale Golf Club’s Declan O’Donovan makes his professional debut after representing Australia at the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship in Dubai. Victorian Matias Sanchez, fresh from his maiden win at the Webex Players Series SA, will also be one to watch.

Eighteen players have earned their place in the championship through the Ford NSW Open Regional Qualifying Series, a Golf NSW initiative that gives players across the state a chance to tee it up in their state Open. Adding another milestone, Royal Sydney Golf Club PGA Associate Gavin Macpherson becomes the first player to qualify through the NSW Virtual Open, a new innovation conducted entirely through simulator centres across NSW.

The Vintage has previously hosted the Ford NSW Open on four occasions between 2007 and 2010, with Jason Norris, Aaron Townsend, Leigh McKechnie and Peter O’Malley among those to have lifted the Kel Nagle Cup.

Fans can catch all the action live on Fox Sports 503 and Kayo Sports, with coverage from 12 pm–5 pm AEDT on both Saturday and Sunday.
