PGA Golfer Danny Lee Drives His Swing Coach Insane

[Music] take two Danny intervention take one take one one more I never know what I’m going to get out of Danny I think that’s the thing every day something think nobody does the thing yeah I don’t think he [Music] [Music] knows I think you’re to the point where you’re like I don’t even want to look at it I don’t care it doesn’t feel good it doesn’t feel right so we’re just going to solve it and get it done you like that coach I [Music] do it’s definitely better for me to think about left knee yes only only with driver and 3w and fivewood we do our homework before the tournament even starts so our whole entire goal is basically once the tournament starts we know what we’re doing we have a game plan and then that gives him confidence to to go out and just know and trust what he’s doing nice we met 3 years ago or something like that and and I couldn’t stop laughing thing anytime I was around cuz it’s like you can’t make this guy up hello you’re unbelievable did you see this though he’s unique and he has his own personality thank you I love him too don’t be Oprah this isn’t [Music] Oprah oh oh God God I hate drivers right now what do you feel there swing wise nothing calm down I can see the anger building sometimes he’ll be angry after a round or In the Heat of the Moment and he may be upset with something and I just try to let him calm down before he makes any irrational decision this game makes you think a lot and I think that’s very dangerous you just got to that really quick but if you have too too many swing thoughts in your head it’s very hard to do and that’s what Drew is so special about it’s like cutting all all my swing thoughts and just makes me a better golfer don’t do it don’t do it it means as much to me as it means to him so if if there’s a bad day or a bad shot or whatever I know where he is and where he’s coming from every time I grab a driver or iron I have lot of Swing clots but somehow Drew makes me cut every thoughts in my head and I just go out there and just [Music] play I’m going to get your name there you [Music] go that’s the one I’m talking [Music] about you’re back thank you just call it the trophy finder not the Fairway finder that’s a troph that’s going to find trophies thank you I’m happy now hey keep that head put that in your bag don’t no no keep it there Dann you’ve played that driver for a long time and you’ve had some successful times you’ve won a golf tournament with that driver no or the other one I’m going to put a okay I’ll put it in my love just keep just keep it for me please keep [Music] it sometimes it’s hard to get these guys away from the course because they think that time equals results and sometimes it’s the opposite when you’re fresh and you enjoy coming to a course so we’ll go to do random things just to make it make it fun you know not just work that’s a lot of talking yeah you’re ready to go this life can wear you out just doing it 24 hours a day thinking about golf try to forget the pressure and all that stuff and have fun and oh Moment of Truth oh that is that is just oh God I think we’re competitive at everything anything we find we can do will be competive like losing no neither of us are going to lose Danny wins I’m the Champion no we’re tied we’re tied

Danny Lee is one of the more unique characters on the PGA Tour. The balance he strikes between goofball and pro golfer can be attributed to his Swing Coach, Drew Steckel. While the two are barely able to make it through a game of air hockey without butting heads, their friction has resulted in a top 100 ranking. We hung out with the unorthodox duo to see how their relationship informs Lee’s in-match performance.
