Seamus Power is on course for a big move up the FedEx Cup Fall Standings if he can deliver a strong Sunday finish at the WorldWide Technology Championship.

Power will begin today’s final round in a share of 16th place on fifteen-under-par, seven shots behind Garrick Higgo after a 67 on Saturday.

The Waterford man began the week ranked 135th in the FedEx Cup Fall standings with the top-100 earning full PGA Tour status for 20226 after the RSM Classic.

Time is running out with just two events remaining after today but Power is projected to move up nine spots to 126th with the top-125 earning conditional PGA Tour status.

There are still two events to go after this week, including next week’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship, where Power claimed his second PGA Tour win in 2023.

Power could break into the top 100 in the rankings if he finishes second although a six shot gap looks difficult too arrest.

The two-time PGA Tour winner began his third round in blistering fashion with a birdie at the first before reeling off four on the spin from the third to turn in 31.

He added another on the tenth to get to within two of the lead on sixteen-under but the birdies dried up and for the second day in a row he closed his round with a bogey.

Poor Sunday finishes have cost Power crucial FedEx Cup points over the fall season and a good finish today would give him a late opportunity to build some momentum heading into the final couple of weeks.

Higgo matched the El Cardonal at Diamante course record with an 11-under 61 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead over Carson Young into the final round.

Already a winner this season, Higgo chipped in for eagle on the par-5 first, parred the second and followed with five straight birdies for 29 on the front nine. The 26-year-old South African added four birdies on the back, the last on the par-5 18th.

“Hit it great, made a lot of good putts and chipped in once,” Higgo said. “Just everything was really solid and took advantage of the opportunities that I had.”
