FRIPP ISLAND, S.C. – The Charleston Southern women’s golf team claimed the team title at the Fripp Island Intercollegiate on Monday afternoon, winning the event with a three-round score of 894 (+30). The tournament was played at Ocean Creek Golf Course at Fripp Island Resort on a par-72 layout and marks the first team championship under first-year head coach Scooter Clark.

Katie Stephens led the Buccaneers and captured the individual championship. She opened the tournament with a 69, followed by a 74 in the second round, and closed with a steady 71 to finish at 214 (-2). Her victory is the first individual title of her career and the first under Coach Clark, pacing CSU from start to finish.

Eugenie Varet secured a runner-up finish to give Charleston Southern a 1-2 standing at the top of the leaderboard. She posted rounds of 75, 72, and 71 to finish at 218 (+2), closing with back-to-back strong rounds to help secure the team win.

Chayse Cool also turned in a top-five finish, tying for fifth overall. She recorded scores of 78, 76, and 77 for a 231 (+15) total.

Summer Griffiths tied for 12th after posting rounds of 80, 79, and 76 to finish at 235 (+19), while IY Ibnu tied for 18th with rounds of 83, 75, and 80 for a 238 (+22) total.

Charleston Southern posted consistent team rounds of 302, 297, and 295, improving each day and finishing 36 strokes ahead of second-place Presbyterian.
