KAILUA-KONA, Hawai’i – The Washington women’s golf team closed out the Nanea Invitational today at Nanea Golf Course. The Huskies placed 10th, with a final-round score of 24 over-par. They were highlighted by a standout under-par round from sophomore Athena Ni.

Ni fired two-under par today to finish one-under, placing 22nd overall, her second under-par round of the tournament. She led the Huskies with a consistent performance throughout the day, scoring five birdies.

Mads Smith carded a one-over (74) to finish at +11 overall, tying for 49th to finish the tournament. 

Claudia Alnajim delivered a steady three-over par, ending the event at +9 and placing 47th. 

Carmen Lim posted a four-over today to join Smith in 49th. Wendy Tang matched the four-over score to finish +15, in 57th place.

“It was not our best week, but I’m very proud of the team for their perseverance,” said head coach Anna Temple. “We struggled early today and were able to finish strong with some birdies down the stretch. Athena put together another good round and had a solid finish. We’re looking forward to the off-season and working hard on our games.”

The Nanea Invitational marks the end of the fall season, with the Dawgs making a return for the BabyGrande Guadalajara Invitational on January 30th in Guadalajara, Mexico.
