After building and maintaining the Mission Creek Golf Club for more than four decades, the Welder family has sold the local golf course.

On Saturday, Harold Rempel officially took ownership of the par 61 course located along KLO Road and the Mission Creek Greenway.

“Mission Creek Golf Club has a proud tradition of delivering excellent experiences to its pass holders and guests,” said Rempel.

“We are committed to maintaining the quality and service that our community values, while continuing to explore opportunities for growth and enhancement of the club’s offerings.”

Rempel is not new to the golf courses business as he owns several courses in Manitoba, including Quarry Oaks in Steinbach, MB, a 27-hole course.

While the Kelowna course has a new owner, there will be some familiar faces around, including general manager Danielle Welder.

“The sale of Mission Creek Golf Club is very bittersweet for our family. It’s been such a joy watching the course grow and be a staple in our community. We are so appreciative of all the people that have supported us over these past 40-plus years,” wrote Welder.

Welder’s grandparents purchased the land for the course in the late 70s before her parents bought into the business in the mid-80s. Eventually, Welder and her brother, Evan, began working at the course and, in recent years, the pair have been running the operation.

“We are very confident that the new owner shares the same appreciation for what makes Mission Creek Golf Club so unique,” added Welder.

“Their intention is to continue running the golf course in much the same way, with a strong focus on preserving the welcoming atmosphere and community spirit. Our heartfelt thank you from the Welder family to the community.”
