We are live. Hey y’all. Bearded Bros Golf Show. This is Rod and I’m Marcus. How are y’all doing today? It is a lovely Tuesday morning where I am. Uh Marcus and stateates side it is t Monday night. Good god. Yeah, my brain is uh on fry right now. Um hadn’t had but just my one cup of coffee, so I need to get my life together. Um, let’s let’s check already. First preseason game for the Mavs representing for the shirt. Um, they they’re already doing some work. They’re up 20. It’s preseason, so I don’t put any stock into preseason basketball at all, but up 20 right now. Uh, you’ve been sending me Kyrie videos. I’m assuming you’re optimistic about his early return this season. Yeah, man. Hopefully, you know, around December sometime, you know, we can get him for a decent part of the season. Um, him being, you know, a key guy, I know they gonna hold him back and, you know, be extra safe and stuff like that, but boy was yacking him like he just he ready. I mean, and, you know, nowadays Yeah, I was going to say that the [ __ ] modern surgery is is something else. people are able to bounce back um ASAP. I still a whole lot quicker. If I could if I could go back and rupture my Achilles at any point in medical technologies history, I would want to do it now. I feel like 2010 it was getting better. Um but not where the cutting edge today and then the rehab is is nuts. Um yeah, it’s it’s kind of crazy now. Yeah. No doubt. I mean, did you see Jason Tatum? Jason Tatum already doing drills. J dribbling the ball, going down the court. He working on skills. I hadn’t seen that. But I mean hopefully, you know, if you if you ever end up in that situation, you would hope that guys put in the work from a from a skills perspective, right? Where they’re going back to the lab and working on the small things that can improve their game, shooting things that don’t necessarily require, you know, jumping, a lot of jumping, right? Light jumping. Um, you know, working on both hands. Um, even though at this at this level they have mastered, you know, left, right, all all all of that stuff. But anyway, man, I mean, the the fact that we’re talking about basketball right off the top says a lot about what what golf looked like this weekend, bro. It was kind of weird. Um, a lot of all firsttime winners on the state side tours. Um, a little bit strange. Uh, we’ll go through them. Tell me where you want to start. LPGA, Old Man Tour, or PGA? Uh, let’s get the Old Man out the way. All right, I’m going to have to go back and link it again. I’ve only had my one cup of coffee this morning for me. So, one of the original videos on this channel where I was like super long- winded was a video about Tommy Two Loves Gaty and his kind of career arc going from, you know, this kind of hustler with the 10finger grip, the two gloves, and just kind of going out and hustling people in South Carolina to making his way all the way to the, you know, working through many tours, working to the PGA tour, winning a couple of times, then running into some trouble where he was caught up in a prostitution ring. Um goes out and wins in his fifth start on the Champions Tour. Um so shout out to Tommy Tloves Gany. You know, it’s something about guys that get on the Champions Tour and win super early in their tenure there. Um we tend to see a bit of a falloff after that as well, but it’s like they get re-energized. They’re playing around, you know, guys that may not be as fresh as they are. Tommy Two Gloves has been kind of on the corn ferryy tour trying to get away make his way back to the PGA tour, but at 50 years old, go play the old man tour. Go get you some victories and, you know, live your glory days again. So, yeah. Yeah. Congrats to him. Um, he didn’t beat the allegations of the the whole the whole ring. He definitely got caught up in that, but you know. Oh, he was he was on tape. Bro was on tape. Bro was all up in there. Bro was all up in there. But um yeah, man. Glad he got it done. I didn’t really pay too much attention to it because once again, you know, it was the same thing. It was it was it was Jim Furick’s event that he hosted, so it was for a good cause. But was I really like aware? Yeah. No, I was like, who did I see? It was Thomas Bejorn. I saw some clips of him in his group. Um, who else was in his group which which last year I remember that tournament got washed out or rain. They had a very similar situation to the LPGA ladies um in Arkansas a couple of weeks ago where it was just pretty much like wind wind and rain ravage tournament. So I remember us kind of touching on that last year. Yeah. A little bit just kind of popped up in my mind as that what happened with that particular event. So okay. Yeah. But more importantly I didn’t watch most much of it. So congrats to Tommy engagement. Thank thank you for your participation, sir. Thank you for your participation. Absolutely. That’s why we got it out the way first, you know, so we can talk about stuff. I know. But again, another first time winner. Um I am dumb. Not dumb, but we’ll get to DP World Tour here in just a little bit as well. So um I I forgot to throw that on the list, but we’re we’re malleable and flexible. All right. So, uh, LPGA or PGA? [Music] Uh, PGA. All right. So, on the thumbnail for today, Steven Fisk, uh, PJ Tour rookie. Um, you see a little blurb, a little, uh, cutout of his grip. I have a video queued up of Mr. Steven Fix grip. Do not recommend. I I was going through like the PGA Tour um highlights and so what they do is like pretty much like a little Instagram story essentially on the PGA Tour app and I looked down and I was like what is that grip bro? So I took a screenshot of it. I put it in our show notes but I was able to find a video of him talking about his grip when he was on the corn ferry tour. So I’m going to play this real quick in the game. I would recommend a different grip. I certainly think that the right way to hold a golf club is different than the way I do it. You know, I grew up on a driving range. Didn’t even know that my grip was weak or weird or anything like that until I was like 14 or 15. Had some guy walk up and ask me why I held it that way. My coach and I have talked about trying to change it and it’s it’s not possible. I’d rather just try and get really good the way that I am and and deal with that. So, yeah. Uh the thumbs crossed over very weak. Um Ivan was like trying to like, okay, I don’t grip anything. Like how does he even get to that point where you grip the club that way? So either way, the guys clearly figured out a way to to make that swing work. Swing swing your swing as uh Arie Palmer Palmer Palmer used to say. Um you know, so shout out to that dude. um seemed you know seeing his wife running out there. It’s always a kind of refreshing scene to see all the you know struggles and I’m sure working his way through the ranks to get to that point and actually culminating of course getting entry into some bigger events going forward. So shout out to him. What what how much of that did you get to check out in person? Um I watched a decent decent bit of it. um was trying to catch um Max Homa since he’s uh you know ego list right now and he feels like he needs to play in the fall series. Yeah, you know uh I think he’s gonna end up doing enough to get in that top 100 to fully secure his card even though he’s like past champ past champ winner and he’s exempt already. But, you know, Prideful wants to do it by wants to do it on his own, not just off of past winner status or whatnot. But, um, and and also still working on the new swing. Right. Right. Um, so yeah, saw him on Thursday. Friday he was opposite coverage. Um, shot a decent enough number. Um, maybe right around something like that. I don’t know. He finished T18. Yeah, he finished T18. So, not bad. He went 72 low Saturday 64 and then 72. Yeah, that makes sense cuz I didn’t see him on the coverage at all on Sunday. It was kind of because he had made his way all the way up to T4, T5 after Saturday. But as we always say, you know how it goes when you shoot a hot round, it’s hard to double down on it and exactly what happened. Yeah. You know, swing’s just not the same. You know, putt’s not dropping like you would expect. So, yeah. But again, trending the right way. I think he’ll take some of that into um you know, they still got five more events on this fall series, so I think he’ll take that on. I wonder how much I wonder how much he’ll play um as they’re moving around. Um I kind of put that I put that in the show notes and uh back half of the year PJ tour getting real international. Um we’re going to see them in Japan this week. Uh they swing back to the US to Utah. Then they’re out in Bermuda, no Mexico, then Bermuda. and then back to the US. And then of course for Tigers tournament in December, they’re going to the Bahamas. So, uh, we’ll see how much travel Max gets in, you know. Um, I was watching a swing breakdown of him cuz that’s the thing I was looking at after seeing, you know, another first time winner. How many people um, I guess of note, like big names are actually still playing. and he was really kind of the headliner. Max in terms of like, yeah, we know we know the names, but in terms of like marquee, somebody that you could put on the poster and get people to come out, Max was essentially the guy, right? One of the guard twins showed up. But yeah, I was looking at a swing breakdown. He’s getting real vertical in the back swing. I mean, previous swing 2023, I think they were showing clips from Ryder Cup. very behind, easy to get stuck in that swing, which is probably why he was dealing with a lot of inconsistency, but now very much like club in front of him, uh, straight up and down, not quite as steep as JT on the back swing, but but very much not getting locked behind him. So interesting. I I expect good things as he gets more comfortable with this. Yeah, for sure. I think next week them being in Japan. Um decent travel. Um probably, you know, a longer flight, but you know, um a country that everybody wants to visit at some point. Um you know, the golf is always going to be pristine out there. So, you know, you got guys like Sah Tagala showing up for that. Probably a Batio probably be there. Oh, I saw Chris got her up posting a story from Japan already, so he’s already out there. Yeah. So, yeah. I mean, hell, this will probably be the last big event of the fall series for them guys and then, you know, they’ll come back for Tigers event or whatever beginning of December or whatever. Yeah. But yeah. Yeah, I think um well, I mean, I guess we should get back to Sanderson Farms and congratulate Fisk. I don’t know. It was It’s a It’s a weird swing, but he ended up winning by like two shots in the end. hit it to like ended up eagling 17 to go from down one to up one and then um bomb the drive quick T pickup and then hit it to like you know two feet off a downhill slope in the fairway um to really seal the deal. So yeah, he got hot and um you know Garrett had a chance but didn’t really you know surface at the end. Yeah. Well, hell. I mean, Fisk went out front nine, three under, back nine, five under with no bogeies on the card. So, and finished with three straight birdies. So, 16, 17, and 18 straight three straight threes. I mean, that’s clutch. Yeah, that’s that’s really clutch. And then, you know, we’ve always talked this year in particular, for some reason, we’ve talked about how, you know, clutch you have to come in on Sundays. So again, Max shot low on, you know, Saturday, wasn’t able to back it up, and then Sunday kind of just stalled out, shot even par. Clearly, this fist guy went and got it. And when you look at the contact, I mean, weak grip and all, he he’s very powerful through the ball. Like his turn through the ball, it’s pretty impressive, man. He’s getting a a lot of flex. Just watching, you know, the swing breakdown and just seeing um kind of a shorter back swing doesn’t doesn’t fully get it parallel, which is fine, right? You make it work. John Rom has been able to make that type of swing work for his entire career. So, I mean, you never know with these guys that kind of come out of nowhere, get their first win. You’re always happy for them. Like, I go back to that. There’s a lot of work and competition that these guys experience going through corn ferry and getting to this stage of their career. And again, you see it in the family celebration, but then you’re like, okay, what’s next? Do you go out and win again? Do you fall off? We’ve seen a lot of guys just, you know, [ __ ] the bed going forward that after they get that first one. So again, we we hope for the best for him and that this is not just like a flash in the pan type of deal. Yeah. So yeah, another first time winner. A lot of parody on all tours. And then we swing over to the LPGA. I’m going to look this young lady’s name up because I literally I don’t I can’t pronounce Yes. came in on a sponsor’s invite. They’re playing in Hawaii. Um, you know, pretty pretty full compliment. Go ahead. Wednesday through Saturday event. Yep. Yep. So, I did not just the way my week worked. Did not get to catch any of this at all. Just the timing of of when they were playing just wasn’t great for me. So, I didn’t get to catch a lot of it. I was just looking at um updates. You know, of course, LPGA, anytime Nelly’s in the mix, I’m going to get a update. I’m gonna get like a a push notification from the LPGA like, “Hey, Nelly Cord is in the mix on on Sunday and you know, uh talking about how she wasn’t able to close it out.” But um I mean it’s good to see her trending in the right direction. Um but then kind of right in the same vein, we see that she’s pulling out of the International Cup to kind of heal and not exacerbates further injuries. Uh Yimino is going to take her spot in that international um crown which they’re kind of mixing in with their Asian swing. Um LPGA is going to be in Asia for like five straight weeks. So it’s it’s kind of nuts that they’re going to be gone that long with their second Asian swing of the year. Um couple of Korean stops, the International Crown in between there. But yeah, I mean again I didn’t get to watch much of the LPJ unfortunately this week. Um, but shout out again to another the 26th individual or new winner on the LPGA. I think it’s a problem. I know you’re like it’s not so much, but I still think it’s a problem that we don’t know any of these young ladies and our LPGA stars are not stepping up to the plate despite, you know, we we know Nelly, we know um Gino, Patty T, all all the names that have been good in the past, but just haven’t really had a good 2025 year. Yeah, I mean, sure, Rod. I guess you could say they need a solidified winner up there again. That’s what you want to call it. I think it’s great. Hey, man. I think it’s great. Open it up. Everybody needs to win. I mean, it’s But I just think that’s going to be a crazy stat that we can look back on for 2025. I mean 2025’s already been a wild ass year. Uh it has in the just in the world period, let alone all always. Yes. Yes. Always possible. But geez, 26 win 26 new winners in 25 events. That’s an insane stat. If that just keeps going, I just think that’s something that you can really harp on. But yeah, I don’t know. Um, uh, what’s what’s her face? Um, Golden Girl, new number one. Uh, Gino. Gino. I don’t know how that was just really like slipping my mind. Anyways, right. Gino got a lesson. She was in Dallas for the week. She skipped Hawaii. She’s flying over for the Asian swing. So, she’s excited. So Ronnie Yen is back. She’s gonna be defending championship, defending champion in China. Um Gino will be there. You know, the usual gang will be there. So, you know, the LPGA is truly an international tour and they are on their second Asian swing. I think that’s going to be fun. They’re all the way up until the first week of November. November 6th, they’re in Japan. Um, I mean, for the ladies, they got some decent purses. 2.2 men, two what? You know, I was going to say, yeah, they’ve they’ve got some good ones lined up, which we said that was a large part um of their growth is getting some larger purses, playing in some more, you know, prestigious courses, which I think they’ve done state side quite a bit. So, I Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think they they’ve the infrastructure is set up properly. Um, and you know, they were having some issues with their commissioner issu, you know, situation last year. This is super random. Did you see um how much WNBA do you keep up with? Oh, brother, they are Hey, look, Kathy need to go ahead step on down, brother. Okay. So, you caught you caught the nefa call your tear down of of Kathy. Oh yeah. Brick brought brick. She went through it. She went through her ass. Oh my gosh, bro. That was bad. Ate her up. Ate her up. Oh my god. In four. There’s no denying it, bro. And that’s what I feel like was happening kind of to a certain degree with uh the LPGA is that they were having a lot of internal issues, struggles with infrastructure, um events being run poorly. But I think like I said, they were kind of succeeding despite their follyies. And now that they’ve actually, you know, changed some leadership, it it’s just again, I think they’re they’re they’re they’re poised for a really good year next year. If they can get Nelly back on track, if they can get Gino locked in, um Patty T has had a trash year. I mean, she has been pretty much unheard of this year. Um she pul she pulled out of the international uh crown as well. So yeah. Yeah. I mean, I’m I’m I’m This year is a wash. Uh Lydia Co is just living her best life. I saw her and her husband have having a great time in Hawaii, bro. In Hawaii. They traveling, man. F a win. We I I made I made the Hall of Fame. I’m good. Exactly what I was about to say. She’s She’s like, “F this golf thing. I’mma go. I’m just living my my life.” She made the YouTube content with Lu Quan and them. Taco the gang. Yeah. Oh, wow. I hadn’t seen that. I’m have to check that out. You have to. It’s a decent game. They played in the Olympic club where she plays at a lot uh out in San Francisco. So, yeah. It’s a nice little It’s a nice game. It’s a um I mean I mean she’s doing she’s playing from the tips with them and she’s hitting her normal stuff and she’s keeping up. So, it’s I mean it’s easy for her. I mean, for real. And so, like, she was um she’s got good banter. I mean, and uh she fit right in fit right in. It wasn’t even like forced or anything like that. Yeah, it was a great watch. Sha shout out to Lydia Co. overcoming parental abuse. I mean, I used to I remember catching the early stories um of her parents like messing with her diet, her going through tons of caddies in her early career. I mean, she was she was on she was definitely on the uh calling more coward train early on, but clearly, you know, she’s been able to kind of separate herself, live her own life, go get married, um settle down, find some stability. So, I can easily see her just, you know, I mean, she just looks happy. Yeah, exactly. You know, I think she is exactly where I feel like uh Lexi Thompson wishes she could be, right? Finding balance and, you know, not necessarily your whole life being based around the game of golf, but finding out how to be a human in between, you know, successful as an athlete. So, I’m proud of Lydia Co. And just when I see her on social media sharing her life, I’m happy for her as a human being given how long she’s been in her eye. I mean, as long as we’ve been around the game of golf, Lydia Co has been involved. Since a young kid, she’s been a professional golfer. So, shout out to her. She’s I mean, [ __ ] I mean, if we being if we keep it a buck, feel like she being forced to be a pro since she was 15. I feel like that was like the I mean that was from the jump. I mean same thing but like Lucy Lee and Michelle we I feel like Michelle we kind of like her being 6 510 at 13 it kind of was like what you fa do besides play sports. Michelle I need you to go ahead get it in. But like Lexi you know Lydia they was you know petite girls. I mean, Lexi Thompson just grew up with big bros, so she knew how to be athletic, but I mean, she wasn’t just towering over people. She didn’t hit like a big gross version. That growth, right? Right. Yeah. But yeah, I mean, she battled through and um Yeah, like you said, she’s created her own lane. She’s done it, you know, her own way these last like five, six years and stuff like that. She’s she’s been allowed to be herself, so that’s always good. And um you know, hasn’t let it got get to her. She’s still, you know, hungry enough to still come play even though she’s already solidified everything. But like we talked about earlier this season, in our own in our own talks, if she calls it quits at 30, she done already did enough. So, she’s still got three year. She’s still got three more prime years before she wants to settle down or whatever or, you know, do the Lena thing and stuff like that. Yeah. Go and go really detach from the game of golf. Who knows? She She’s got a great speaking voice. A lot of people like, you know, the New Zealand accent. She might come back and be a commentator and stuff like that. So, yeah. Right. Right. Uh, I would gladly take Lydia Co over Karen Couples any day of the week. Oh yeah, get Stuffles out of here, please. Oh my goodness. You a bring her up. Shout out Judy Rankin forever. Straight up. She Judy Rankin is the Hubie Brown of L LPGA commentating. I I’m like, please live forever. Please live forever. We can we cannot have you away. But I think she retired, right? We haven’t heard Judy. She’s not as very limited role. Yeah, no doubt. All right, let’s let’s jump. We’ll we’ll go across the pond and we’ll come back and talk about uh some TGL stuff. So, Bob McIntyre, I mean, a lot of guys from for Europe went ahead and played the uh Alfred Dunnh Hill links who were So many names, bro. There was so many names. We were very curious like and just like at in awe of the scheduling, but it’s it’s a it’s an event for them. They go play that event, you know, in large numbers. Even Brooks Keepka making an appearance. I mean, that boy is playing as much as Terrell Haden these days. Um but ultimately Bobby McIntyre finished early on Sunday. Um had to wait around essentially for an hour while you know the leaders you know finished up their rounds and he ultimately captures the victory out there at the old course and you know the mix of courses that they have. So um clearly no hangover in his system or you know he was able to power through and get the win in some tough conditions. looked windy and it looked miserable on TV. They washed out Yeah, they washed out Saturday. They completely cancelled Saturday’s round. It was so much rain. The greens had to be squeegeeed halfway through and they just they just scrapped those rounds. Um yeah, bro. Um yeah, that boy Bob ain’t had no hangover. I mean, but you know, he’s Scottish. They they be drinking, bro. They drink Guinness. They drink strong beer. Yeah. So him celebrating with little stellaris and some dose keys in the states and stuff, you know, he was more than good. And then, you know, I think um who came over early? I don’t know if Bob came over early. Memphis Fitzpatrick came over and was practicing by Tuesday, but I think Bob and Tommy came over and they didn’t they didn’t start practicing till like Wednesday and stuff like that. But um I mean shoot still though y’all you think how many times those guys have played you know St. Andrews the old course. So Right. Right. True. They don’t really need to go out there and play it and stuff like that. Oh yeah. Terrell Haden was there Tuesday, too. He was there Tuesday as well. Um I I would love to hear I I I know he’d be very um sarcastic about it. I’d love to hear Terrell talk about how much he really like loves the game of golf cuz as much as that man I mean like literally every week he is going to play golf somewhere. It’s it’s it’s very impressive to me. Yeah. And plays well. I mean, he finished second. Solo second. He probably does actually enjoy golf. As mental as he is, he actually probably does. Like, I don’t know what I would do without golf. And probably doesn’t know. Right. Right. Because there’s a lot of people that say, “I don’t know what I would do without golf.” But they clearly know like, yo, like I could go do this or like I had another pathway. T 54. He just an an immaculate golfer. He ain’t nothing else in his cards for him. He ain’t playing soccer. He ain’t playing. He’s not gonna he’s not going to go be a hair model anywhere clearly. Yo, that’s the craziest part to me is that he has like he he he’s got to go to Turkey, Rod. He’s got to go to Turkey because no head. No, bro. His head shape is not good for the baldi. I disagree. He’s He’s I’m gonna Let me pull up a picture. I think Ter got a hat. No, it’s too tall. Then like the top like the top back part like lumps up. It’s like slanted up and back like No, it ain’t got to be perfectly rounded like a Morris chestnut or something like that. All right. All right. I’m pulling up his his I’m pulling up his wiki. Oh, let me see if I can isolate. There we go. I got it the way I want it. Let’s pull this picture up. I I Oh, now you stacking the deck against me. No, bro. That’s not how this works. I I disagree with you on the I’m show head shape. I’m gonna show one. Look Look at that. No, look that perfectly rounded. You can and it’s so low you can almost visualize him without the hair. Which let me see what this other image is. Okay, it’s full. That’s young Ter. Yeah, he could go straight bold and I think he he has the Nobody needs to see the back, but from the front I think he’s good. This angle is terrible. Look at this. Look at the shape of the head behind the ear. It is so flat and straight back down. No, whatever. Whatever. I mean, at a model, this is true model because he’s definitely hating, but at at this stage of the game, him keeping it this low, which was this is him during the RDER Cup. This is his best bet. Just keep it low. Don’t let the bat get all high. um go with a little taper fade on the sides, you’re good until you decide to do something with the implants or something. But he does he absolutely looks an legit 10 years younger with a hat on. Right. Right. A legit 10 years Absolutely hat cuz cuz you know he’s got the he’s got the healthy beard. He’s he’s got that going for him. So, he’s got a nice he’s got a nice grill. He cheeses. He’s got a nice friendly smile. He’s got welcoming eyes. You know, you and this that I I love when you put on the professional voice, corporate talk, you know. Any any other notes from the DP world tour? Yeah, I wanted to go down the list and see all the freaking notables. Freaking Tom McKibben made the field like get Let’s go out of the top. Yeah, I’m going to go out of the top 10. So, Terrell Haden second. We already said that. The uh middle until you get to the top 11 or 11th uh where Louis finished. That’s where kind of the defectors end up. Brooks Kepka decent showing at 15. T15. Yeah, there were a bunch of people tied at 11th. Um, Matt Fitzpatrick finished T-21. A lot of guys at T-21. Good god, it’s like 15 people. It’s a lot of people at T-21. Um, uh, Tommy Fleetwood also T-21. My guy, every time I see him, I I just wish he’d more consistent. This is a rando pick. Eddie Peril, I I love the guy. Just pops up every once in a while. He’s two in his own head. He is He’s the opposite. He’s the antithesis of Aro Haden. Terrell Haden gets in his own head, plays better. Eddie Pepper, ever since them DP World Tour YouTube videos, he has absolutely been in his own head for the worst. And I mean like he’s a he’s a club free agent so he gets to pick what he wants and it still doesn’t matter. He is a but he’s so talented. That’s the sad part. Yeah, bro. What the [ __ ] Pat Reed Caleb Sar. Oh lord, bro. Matt Jones T32 again trying to get those trying to get those uh DP World Tour starts. But Martin K, David, they all I mean damn near everybody. I know. But that’s but here here’s why this stands out to me. A random argument that I’m just coming up with off the cuff. That’s to me why the DP World Tour model was always flawed by reducing the amount of reps that their players get. The truth is, I mean, our experience with golf, the results actually show it. The more often that you play, the more consistent you are and the better your results are long term. Again, I go back to the top. Terrell Haden is a perfect example. You see all the guys that just participated in the RDER Cup having actually pretty good showings despite the partying. They’re still playing, you know, clearly the practice leading up to the RDER Cup and then participating and then flying across the ocean performing well because they’re getting reps. And here you are with these uh DP World Tour guys who haven’t played that much. You know, they’ve been off for weeks at this point, like from a competition standpoint, and they’re back half of the pack. They they’re making they’re they’re barely making the cuts, but I mean, the results are the results. You can’t you can’t I I won’t argue with anybody about that. Like, I I I’m sorry. The results are the results. Let’s just keep it a stag again. Keep it aundred. If I’m on the If I’m on the DP World Tour, I have something to be hungry about. I have something to fight for. I’m not just playing in the DP World Tour. If I play well enough, I can get, you know, exempted into the PGA Tour and get status there. If I’m gonna live, yeah, the money is a is, you know, the money is stacked for 14 weeks out the year, but am I hungry to practice and go get it when the money is guaranteed like that? No. I don’t I don’t see them feeling as hungry. Like, prime example, DJ, DJ don’t give a [ __ ] about practicing. What? He literally does not. That man does not care about golf at all. No, he does not. And that’s and it showed. He shot a 64 and then doubled it up and shot a 77 the very next day and then came back and shot. Funny ass. But I think that’s actually you reminded me of a story that I saw way earlier in the week and it was talking there’s two there’s two separate stories but they’re essentially if you again I I’ve been talking about this on my other on my TikTok is media is literacy people being able to read and put together like information two separate stories. So we have um the PG the uh live golf the just the UK side losing $1.4 billion since their inception $1.4 billion and then um Martin Kimer separately you know saying hey we’re not doing those big contracts anymore. John Rom was the last of the big contracts and then Terrell Haden of course got a decent one but not not John Rom numbers clearly they thought he was going to be the star and we have not seen any large names move over since John John Rom and that was two years ago and so if they’re not throwing money at people they don’t have um kind of easy pathways into the majors it’s better than it was when they first started but not easy. So, what’s the incentive to go play in that league? Cuz we know the talking points about reps were all like, “Oh, I want to spend more time at home.” Shut up. We always knew that was bull crap. We We knew it was just a talking point. And growing the game, remember all the talk growing the game, spending more time with family. Um, what was another one? There’s another BS. Oh, as soon as they said to grow the game and then the the when uh Dam when Dsham Blow was doing his redemption tour and you know was looking more friendly for all of two and a half weeks he said the same thing. He was like and they were like he is in India playing in the ch in the Asian tour for the love of the game. Stop full stop. cut cut the cut the bull like come on we know why you’re we know come on so so those those two stories to you know again not offering up big contracts and then again they were just detailing the losses on the UK side of it and that’s actually between I I mean the Australian I don’t know how they break it all up in full like how many different segments if we if you’ve watched any of the early season live events that are in the uh Arab countries they are sparsely attended. There is no one out there watching those events. They are damn near empty. Australia has been Yeah. Go ahead. I mean how they thought that event that event in Saudi Arabia was going to flourish under the lights. Them people don’t be out at night. I I will say outside of the US, I have not done it yet, but quite a few courses, you know, like across the like fully across the pond, not Europe. Yeah. Do night golf, but like as Asia do a lot of night golf and I’ve been on a couple of courses where I’ve seen the lights and I’m like, I should try that. The downside, right, like like right now is it’s rainy season. So, at some point of every single day, there is going to be some rain in the forecast or lightning. So, I’ve not pulled the trigger on it. Um, I’ve just kept to day off. But, it is very popular to see lights up and I’m like, that’s probably that’s going to be dope when I finally do. As soon as we get in out of the rainy season, like November, December, I’m definitely doing it. But yeah, like the Saudi event, it’s like it was so bad. It was so um I mean but then but like that’s the thing though. So not only was it night over there, it was you know redee it was um it was winter over there so reduced lighting so they had to play um they played at like five or six their time and it was already dark. Then they played and it was cool. It was cool. Yeah, it was cold. It’s the desert. That’s right. Literally dry as hell. No protection. And then these fools, it was like 3:00 a.m. state side. Who is watching? Who is watching? And they’ve had the best TV deal this year that they’ve ever had, right? So they left the CW now, you know, not competing, right? They’re not competing with Gilmore Girls reruns and got over the Fox. So, it’s the best situation and best visibility that they’ve had, but it’s not paid off for them at all. Yeah, they’re not capitulizing at all. Um, I mean, as we continue to go down these names though, I just want to say I just want to relish and just have a nice cheesy smile, like just a real hard fist pump. Your boy Brenda still really thought he was gonna find him a lane and live and he is 159th 159th out of 168 players plus nine. Wow. With a 81 with a 81 and a 75 consecutively. Let me just point that out. So, so I guess in you know the good I guess the good thing about the Dunnh Hill is that everybody gets to play every day unless you WD or something but technically you play three days. Technically play three days and then the final door. Yeah. Final day cut. Yeah. You play all three courses. You play Kings Barn, you play the old course at St. Andrews and then you play Carnoosei. And then the fourth day everybody plays the old course. and your partner if you’re in the running for the program gets to play as well out there. But yeah, I mean, you know, it ended up just you play your all three courses and then that was it for this one. But um now don’t get don’t get me wrong, second day was definitely tough, right? Weatherwise, there are a lot of high scores, especially near the bottom of the uh the list. But Brendan Steel 3 days 69 decent opening day 81 and then 75, right? Yep. Bro, that’s crazy, right? Nobody’s even No other You go down the list of the livers, nobody else is even close to that. No, nobody’s even close to that. You got guys like Nicholas Kosarts and George Kotia who aren’t even regular DP World Tour players, shooting better scores than you, besting you by 10 strokes. And you’re a professional golfer in rotation playing almost every week. They don’t even play every week and they beat you by strokes. I know. We we we we’ve been dunking on uh Liv too hard when it came. And that’s the thing. It’s not even about Liv with Brandon Steel. Brandon, it’s this is Brandon the ego. Literally, it’s Tom McKibben again to me. It’s the original Tom McKibben. For you to really think you just gonna switch tours and come out better off. Funny. Super funny. Well, I mean, he was mid on the PGA tour, right? Couple wins, but then to jump out, I mean, again, I don’t know what the finances look like for him. I don’t know what they paid him to actually go over there, but I mean, it’s just sad, right? What happens to people’s career? I mean, we we’re we’re talking about a quite a few people who no longer have golf careers as a result of going to live and their game completely fallen off, you know, the the edge of the table. So, I don’t know. It’s it to me it’s just sad. It’s just like, bro, just work. Yeah, these guys not old. These guys still have time to get it out the mud. They just are so spoiled now. They don’t want to They don’t want to uh that. And I think also I think I mean to a certain degree here here’s where I will open up a soft spot in my heart for them. So he probably saw the writing on the wall. So Brendan Steele is like my age. He’s born at 83. So he’s like 42, 40, you know, probably 42. um he probably saw these young guys that were coming up in the PGA tour having quick early success that he his right the writing was probably on the wall for his career, right? No. So if they were able to you’re not seeing that? No. You’re not willing to give him golf is one of those longevity sports. You still good all the way up until 50. And then he has that home That’s true. He’s got that homemade ass swing. It ain’t like he in positions where it’s like, “Oh [ __ ] I’m straining my back.” He got that, you know, super strong grip, that flat face like DJ. That’s all homemade stuff. And plus, he still got plenty of distance. That but but here here’s just some credence to my argument that his last win so he’s got three wins on the had three wins on the PGA Tour. um none on live and he his last one was in 2017. So even before leaving for Live, it had been four years since his last victory. Five years and that was like he he won the Safeway Open in back-to-back years and then Valero Texas was 5 years before that in 2011. So I don’t know, man. He pro he probably was being realistic with himself. I don’t know what his contract was, but let’s just say they gave him 15 million. Does it make sense to you? No. I mean, I guess, bro. I mean, sure, but the the championship is right there, Rod. Clear clearly the back half of the year with the the stars not playing in the wraparound part of the year. There are opportunities, but he stays in, you know, he stay in one of them country ass southern states. You just pop out, play in one of them Sea Island, Georgia courses, play the Sanderson farms. Come on, bro. Make you a couple cut 100 thousand. You still got You still got decent sponsor. You one of the title sponsors for Wilson staff. Come on, bro. Anyways, no, I’m not. Anyways, the next the next player up for the livers is 13 strokes best than him. Cam Smith, Thomas Peters both shot four under. DJ shot four under. That’s all I’m That’s my last one. That’s my last one. One I’m very curious like why they’re clearly they are. I’m I’m trying to figure out what the long game is, right? You mentioned Martin Kimer and Caleb Sarat. Did I already mention them? You you mentioned Serat. What where did Martin Kyrimer finish? Martin Kmer got up to 600. He shot 73 on Friday with the terrible weather, but 68. That’s pretty good. 73 sandwich. Yeah, he’s the 73. The 73 was sandwiched by a 68 and a 69. So, he did what he was supposed to do. Bubba Watson shot seven under. Um, Matt Jones seven under. Caleb Sarah got to eight. Yeah, bro. Patrick Reed eight. But yeah, bro. Disappointed. Uh, let me get my mouse back. Um, so let’s let’s hop back over US state side. Um, the TGL League starting its second rendition, I would say they honestly had a pretty good feedback from season 1 despite Yeah. it being a, you know, one the first year was delayed, was supposed to kick off the whole year before. When we finally saw it and the placement of it, it was actually really good. I mean, even though the schedule was hard to kind of keep track of, whether they were playing on Mondays or Tuesdays, depending on the NFL season, the timing of it was really good. They’re starting to me, I think, a little bit earlier than they did last year in December of this year is their first first match. It’s the the championship uh teams playing against each other. But I think the product came across very well. I mean, when we’re talking about, you know, coming off of talking about Liv and kind of these alternate PGA Tour adjacent uh tours, I would say TGL was actually, you know, and this is it was just easier to watch and kind of just a completely different spin. It wasn’t golf um on like on a regular golf course. This simulation, I think they could do some things different with the greens. I know they, you know, had some, you know, they would rotate it and do things differently. I’m interested to see how they improve the tech cuz there were some issues with the, uh, launch monitors and accurate distances that really popped out here and there, but overall, I thought it was a pretty good product. What do you think about it going into year two? Um, I mean, I think as it’s a it it’s a it’s a simulator league, so it’s like five iron golf, loft 18, you know, that type of deal. You go out there with your homies, it’s slightly more competitive, there’s a little bit of money on the line, and it’s a filler. So, like, yeah, when the when the weather is shitty on the East Coast, it’s going to be cold. In Florida, it’s going to be rainy. Like, it it is what it is. They’re gonna need some place to be. So, why not make it, you know, one of the best techs and still have people get competitive, still be playing for some money, and then, you know, you keep branching out. If it keeps getting traction, you build up a couple more teams, get some Lady teams involved, get the LPGA involved. See, that’s where I think they could I think they could definitely do that. And it’s because it’s a simulator league, it’s easy. It’s like playing with a handicap, right? You change the TE’s up. It’s still fun. I mean, I think it it could be really successful. I think the downside, not downside, outside of Nelly, I think a lot of the um other competitive the other stars of the LPGA don’t necessarily live states side. They’re all over the place. And so, uh we get a lot. It’s a lot of it’s a lot of players that stay come out of Dallas now. I mean, we talked about that. It’s just a central hub for a lot of different places, uh especially tour-wise. So, a lot of people are playing there from out of Dallas. Um, and then Arizona, too. So, that flight ain’t bad. I mean, I think it could happen. Dallas is not bad. Dallas is like three hours. Um, getting to Florida, three and a half, depending on what side it’s on. Um, so yeah. I mean, it’s not crazy. I I think it’s it’s more ladies that live over here now than previously. I think Gino is still in Thailand though in the off season, but she plays a lot. So, we’ll see. I don’t know. But I think that’s a next good step for year three for TGL. But I’m I’m looking forward to it. I mean, especially like you said, it’s it’s good filler. It’s a it’s a way to kind of bridge the off season. We saw big gaps in the LPGA schedule this year where they played early in January and then took a whole month off. So, it’s it’s good. It gives us something to continue to talk about and watch. But um yeah, I mean I’m looking forward to it, especially if they can keep all the same stars. It seemed like the guys I think the part that stood out to me is that it didn’t seem forced that they genuinely enjoyed being there and it wasn’t awkward. That’s the thing that stood out to me cuz it’s like it’s it sometimes in these situations it almost feels coerced or like man I got this check and I got to be here but it didn’t feel like that at all to me especially on TV when the camera’s in their face the entire time. Yeah. I think for the crowd, I feel like like what Roger Still was saying and a couple of the in-person attendees were saying, I do feel like the players need to be miked up for the players. But also, if they need to tape delay some [ __ ] just to make sure that people aren’t, you know, saying, “Oh, fuck.” Or, “Oh, shit.” Something like that on a hot mic. Right. Right. I don’t think it’s crucial for that to be live. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Five 10 second delay just so we catching all the fine tuned stuff. But yeah, I absolutely think that, you know, they need to be on the hot mic for everybody. Um and yeah, just keep um making it more realistic like they were doing. I really enjoyed that they were doing um you know, you hitting off a fairway cut, you hitting off a rough if you went too far right or too left. um playing, you know, really interesting uh courses and stuff that look and present different on TV, you know, stuff you’re not going to see all the time. So, yeah, I really feel like um it they definitely have some positive momentum and they need to keep growing off of that. Absolutely. Yeah, no doubt. Um what else you got, bro? That’s our list. That’s our official list. Um, the NFL season is wonky. There’s a lot about it. Well, the winners aren’t winning, the losers are winning, the middle teams are doing decently. You know, I don’t I mean, I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s not the normal NFL. Like, you know, you got your front runners, you got your teams that supposed to be good that are actually good. You always have some teams that fall off, but like the Jags right now are three and one. The Chiefs are two and two, right? I thought the Jags I thought the Jags were going to get their ass blown out cuz they were down pretty heftily. I just pulled it up. They are at 28 24 and they were up with under with with under a minute to go. So, uh do they have possession? Jags have possession of the ball. So, they got to go score a touchdown. Yeah. But yeah, it is a little it’s a it is a little bit wonky. Um, no doubt. I don’t know. I do you feel like the NFL’s on the downside? I mean, we’re like you said early on, right? 2025 [ __ ] weird. We’re living in the upside down right now. So, um, I don’t know, man. I mean, I feel like they’ll the NFL will catch its stride before the end of the year, but I agree. It it had been something that I’ve been like, “Oh, I got to go watch this game or watch that game.” Uh, yeah, you sent me that that little uh blurb about Cowboy fans, which I’m done with them. Like getting excited about stuff that don’t matter. I mean, to the point where like in my old golf group chat, dudes getting excited at halftime, whatever the previous week was, I’m like, “Y’all got a whole 30 minutes of football left to play. Why Why are y’all excited at halftime talking about them boys are back? I’m like, y’all this is we’ve jumped the shark. Yeah. I mean Yeah, bro. I mean, you got teams Yeah, bro. I mean, the Chargers and Denver are both winning records. I mean, it’s a reshuffleling of the deck. It’s Things are just different. Yeah, truly. Baltimore is going outside right now. I mean, injuries and all kinds of stuff like that, but really truly going outside, you know. I mean, New England beat Buffalo last night. Just a lot of wild. I did watch that game. I did watch that game. That was actually a pretty decent game. Um, I I do want to give a shout out to the This is super random, the really nice Thai gentleman that I played golf with this week. It was the most pleas It It was like the most pleasurable three-hour uh golf round I’ve walked. It was I was sweaty as hell after we were all all said and done, but it was like in the low 80s, but Houston humid in the low 80s. Um suffocating, but suffocating, but it was a fun round. I chipped in like three times for for birds. I couldn’t hit a green to save my life. But but anyway, the round was made pleasurable made pleasurable by this really cool guy. He’s like in his 60s. Um but walks two times a week at this course. So in really good shape. It was fun. And he was just uh asking me about the US and why we moved. But it was a really cool playing. I’ve again universal across the world. I think we say this all the time. It’s It’s hard to find somebody that it’s that you just hate playing golf with. Um, as long as they don’t have any of those weird quirky habits, it’s it’s generally a good time with most people. Um, so he he played fast. And I I meant to bring that the part that brought made me bring this up is my new favorite hat that I’ve had to get. Put this in the camera. It encourages everybody to play fast. Little FJ hat. You have that on. Uh, it kind of people look at it and they’re like, “Okay, let me speed my ass up, get away from the quirkiness.” So, I picked it up a few rounds ago. It has helped in in all matchups. People just get up to the ball and and hit it. All those extra warm-up swings. So, my new favorite hat. Nice. Yeah, we have a I saw a hat today and then um at a tournament we had going on at the facility. It was play bad. And it’s like it don’t really matter what you got going on. Yo, speed that [ __ ] up, bro. Speed it up. Get drop a ball. Get up to your ball. You don’t you don’t need five practice swings, bro. The mechanics are off. The mechanics are bad. Just swing swing your swing. Less is more. Just get it out the way, please. Please. Um, so on DP World Tour, we already talked about PJ tour planned in Japan. I love the timing. It’s going to be in decent time for me to watch. I know it’s going to be good for you because it’s it said late night golf. I know. I get I I get t I get Tik Toks from Marcus at the ungodly amount of times of the night. So, I know he’s up 300 p.m. Hey fellas. Hey, everybody that’s watching or will watch this, it’d be perfect time for him. I’m trying to be considerate for him. Be like 300 p.m. his time. Wait, what? But I also I also will get them free for for me. But why are you up at 3:00 a.m. sending Tik Toks? So anyway, don’t worry about why I’m up. [Laughter] Uh DP World Tour in the golf day. So we’ll see if John Rum makes an appearance. Who’s that other guy? The flare for the dramatic. Uh I cannot remember his name right now. the other already fell back off. Let me look uh let me look up. Is it Anhal something? Um uh yeah, Anel Hadago. Yep. Leg kick Halago uh will definitely be there. The ladies playing in Shanghai, China. A lot of Asian golf this week. So, um perfect. I’m I’m gonna have a good time watching golf in real time. Uh now that they’re on kind of a couple hours away from me. So I’m looking forward to that. Um we’ll be back at it. That is India. Yeah. So we’ll we’ll be back at it again next week. We made we we were able to scrape up enough stuff for this week’s show even despite the weird I it was just it felt weird in in this week. Um, but we we sold Don’t even True. No. So, I I think I want to uh work on our putter edition of our episode. We’re we’re finding some slower weeks. So, going through like Hideki Matsyama, um Tal Morawa’s putter switches. Who else is a putter freak? Um, there’s a guy who doesn’t Zack Blair, but he doesn’t play enough, but he still has a hell of a putter collection. We’re going to go through a allworld putter episode one day. Uh, during these slow times for sure. All right, y’all. See y’all next week. Beard Bros Golf Show. I’m Rod. I’m Marcus. Catch y’all next week.
