LIV Golf star Martin Kaymer has a vacant spot to fill on his Cleeks team, and the two-time major champion has revealed he is assessing as many as 15 options as the breakaway league’s transfer window opens.
LIV announced the start of its offseason window for new signings, trades and contract negotiations on Thursday, with teams now able to put their recruitment plans into action. Kaymer’s Cleeks had a dismal 2025 campaign, which started so brightly with Adrian Meronk’s season-opening win in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The Pole finished 17th in the Individual Championship standings, with England’s Richard Bland and German star Kaymer taking 27th and 37th place respectively. Rookie Frederik Kjettrup, meanwhile, failed to make the grade and finished rock bottom with zero points, making him one of six full-time players to be relegated, including a one-time major champion.

Kjettrup’s relegation means the Cleeks have a vacant roster spot, and in an interview with Bunkered, he revealed that the team has enlisted the assistance of a Finnish data company to sift through options before making contract offers.
“We have probably 10, 12, 15 names on our list that we’re looking at,” he said. “Interest from their side, interest from our side, and now we look into stats to make a leaderboard.
“Who would be statistically the best player from those on the list? Then we make a leaderboard, and then we go from there. But we’re still in the early process right now.”
Kaymer, who won the PGA Championship and U.S. Open at his peak, is at the end of his own LIV Golf contract, having joined as a founding member in 2022.
The former world No. 1 insists that he wants to stay with LIV for the long haul, despite only recording three top-10 finishes across his three full seasons with the league.
“I think most of the contracts are up right now, and we’re in the process of it,” Kaymer added. “I continue playing on LIV at least, hopefully, for the next five years.

“That’s my goal, that’s my hope, but I think it’s difficult to get a contract for five years. Also, I’m 40 years old – I need a contract that I feel comfortable with.”
Former Open champion Henrik Stenson (Majesticks), Andy Ogletree (HyFlyers) Mito Pereira (Torque), Yubin Jang (Iron Heads) and Anthony Kim (wildcard) were the other full-time players who finished in the Drop Zone at the end of the season in August.
And with numerous players avoiding the drop but failing to finish in the lockzone, there promises to be plenty of turnover on LIV’s rosters ahead of the start of the new season, which tees off in Riyadh in February.
