LIV Golf has fired the starting gun on a race to Riyadh, doubling the number of places up for grabs in the league through the International Series Rankings, several sources have told the Post.
Initially, only the winner of the series’ order of merit earned a spot in the team competition, but players learned ahead of the Link Hong Kong Open that now the top two would automatically qualify.
An official announcement is due in the coming days, when the Saudi-backed league is also expected to reveal changes to its promotions event, which could be moving from the Middle East to the United States.
With stops in Singapore and at the season-ending PIF Saudi International to follow this week’s tournament, what had appeared to be a four or five-horse race for a LIV card has changed into a battle involving at least twice as many players.
